BoneField: Bodycam Horror

Bonefield is a bodycam-style horror game developed by RedRocksGS where you play as a private investigator sent to look into a whistleblower report in a troubled town. What starts as an investigation quickly turns into a fight for survival, as you’re stalked by hostile entities, scavenging for weapons and information while trying to survive long enough to get out. Pros ✔️ Good asset selection – The environments and props are well chosen and help sell the setting without feeling completely mismatched. ✔️ The storytelling is a neat touch – Relying on radios and recordings to convey parts of the story works well with the bodycam perspective. ✔️ The bodycam horror idea is solid – As a concept, it’s still a really effective way to build tension and unease. Cons ❌ The inventory UI isn’t great – It’s clunky and actively gets in the way during tense moments. ❌ Too many visual effects at once – Between the bodycam overlay, flashlight effects, and other visual filters, it becomes overwhelming instead of immersive. ❌ Feels more derivative than distinct – A lot of ideas felt borrowed from other games rather than built into something that feels uniquely its own. This has a lot of potential. It's very athmospheric, every noise in the background won't let you feel safe. But also needs some fine tuning. Picking up items can be cheesy and the enemy spawn system seems to be buggy. I'm looking forward to the following chapters.

I like the concept, go into houses find thier stuff and a creature you cant see unless you use a mechanic. However the body cam style of POV is overdone and gets nauseating fast. Not to mention a lot of bugs. Flash light for the pistol stopped working for the rest of the basement sections, making finding items harder. All in in all, 10 bucks is a steep price but i believe this game can go somewhere FIX THE SPAWNS AND SPAWN RATE

I like the concept behind this game, and using a brief flash of light to locate an enemy is very cool and could be a lot of fun I think! Ultimately I wasn't able to even finish the game due to a bug where once I unlocked the basement and the enemy became active, the gun stopped working and wouldn't shoot. I made sure to check to see if it was a keybinding issue, or ammo, but it was neither. I could shoot in the waiting room to select a mission, and in the house until I unlocked the door to the basement. I'm not really a fan of the save mechanic either, regardless of where you save, you'll be put back at the beginning of the house and you'll have to recollect items to unlock doors you unlocked previously. You'll have some items you picked up in your inventory, but I'm not really sure how the game decides which items are important enough to be saved and which ones arent. I also got a little motion sick, but that's a personal grievance. The way the player movies is very snappy and the camera moves with your steps to mimic bodycam footage with a fisheye lense, so if you're sensitive to that keep it in mind. Right, just tried Bonefield. These are my first impressions of what's in the current early access build as of release. Great atmosphere & presentation that are brought down by a lack of direction beyond just; look for the thing in the basement. So unless you're eagle eyed it's easy to miss key that are necessary for progressing foraward. Tormentors remind me of the enemies in Killer 7, I love the idea of an invisible enemy that you have to jump scare yourself to see, but it sucks how they can kill you in one hit with no audio or visual que that they're nearby. (But then again I'm coming off an ear infection so they're may have been one & just didn't hear it.) Plus I swear the last one that killed me teleported behind me, if that's a feature then it's stupid. It ran smooth both before & after capping the frame rate at 60 but I still noticed it dip a few times. After getting the rifle the torch attachment for the pistol stopped working no matter how hard I pressed F. So there's a bug right there. $15 (Australian) dollar price tag for early access.
