About The Story Page

✦ AI summary

The Story Page is a medieval fantasy MMORPG where you forge your own path through activities like farming, fishing, tavern management, mercenary work, or crime while shaping an evolving world through dynamic battles and meaningful choices. The game uniquely blends cooperative play with persistent public servers, features NPCs with daily routines that react to your actions, and offers extensive crafting, magic systems, and player-driven economics to create emergent stories.

"The Story Page" offers you to plunge into the atmosphere of medieval fantasy filled with role-playing elements. You will have to engage in various activities, ranging from fishing and farming, to managing taverns, castles and even entire cities. Economic mechanisms are waiting for you, allowing you to build your own business in this world. Or maybe you will choose the path of a mercenary or become part of the city guard? Or perhaps you are interested in criminal activity? Here you are free to choose and create characters using flexible settings to enjoy life in this amazing world. This project is an MMORPG in an open world with public servers, but with the possibility of a cooperative experience (small groups of friends can create their own lobbies without connecting to the servers). My goal is to combine the role–playing component with dynamic battles, where the players themselves influence the development of the plot and the course of events.

NPC's daily routine

Each NPC has a daily routine for his life. They work, sleep, relax, communicate with each other, and react to the actions of the player and creatures aggressive to them.

Magic

Destroy your enemies with rare and powerful magic. The variety will surprise you: from a simple fireball to a sphere that slows down time inside itself.

Fight with your friends

The game combines the ability to connect to shared servers, as well as a separate cooperative game for those who want to play only with friends and do not want to see other players.

Cooking and crafting

Extract resources, grow, collect and create new items from meat stew to elegant sword.

Dialogues

A dialog system with the possibility of various ramifications and response options

Trading

Trade with other players and NPCs.

✦ AI summary

The Story Page has potential as an ambitious indie MMO with solid foundational mechanics and reasonable pricing, but players consistently report it needs significant polish across UI responsiveness, combat animations, server stability, and AI voice acting before it's ready for wider appeal. Most reviewers appreciate the game's bones and suggest wishlisting to follow its progress, with some cautiously recommending it only to players curious about early access projects or willing to overlook its current rough state.

I am not sure where all these positive ratings are coming from... Trust me, I'm not someone new to Early Access, small dev teams, indie MMO's etc. but there are just far too many issues currently to recommend anyone spend money on it. What was the rush to get to early access? Everyone always says the ole "I wanted to like this game". Well yeah, that does apply here, an indie MMO you can get good at before others learn about the game is always a good time.....but.... It could be good far down the road, but with one dev.....unless he hires some serious help I don't see that happening. Everything is so janky from the way you equip your weapons/tools, to every single screen of the UI, buttons not responsive, etc. In the screenshot I posted here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3745773318 I had literally been searching for an Iron Node for a long time, just because I only needed one more Iron Ore for a quest and the first node gave me 9. Anywho, I hit the button to pull out my pick axe, my torch comes out....right, so I hit it again and it brings out the pick axe. Now I do a rain dance around the Iron Node hoping the gods will grant me a few …

Keeping this positive so it doesn't negatively affect the developer. I wouldn't buy into this unless you're simply curious and rather not spend it on half a cheeseburger. Overall I think the game has good bones but isn't in a state where it can compete with other games. It's kind of got that indie game funk... A lot of mechanics are built out to about 60-70% and is missing that polish. But it's early access, so I can't fault much of that. Though this may have been better served being available further in the future. Combat feels a bit restricted to me due to the how the animations are used. There's also some teleporting and desync taking place on the US server. To the point I'm watching NPCs move off to where the server believes my character is and then I am teleported to that location. UI can be a bit clunky, such as trading not being workable since you actually can't effectively access your inventory and trade window at the same time (You can access the windows, but the inventory is overlayed atop and you can't drag and drop to the trade window) It's a tall order for one dev. The release notes show that the developer is putting in work and is responsive. I'm just not sure th…

Only just started livestreaming this on my channel, and despite it clearly being a slow burn; it seems really solid so far, if a little MMOish... Would definitely suggest to the Dev to drop the A.I voice acting entirely (sometimes it's almost unintelligible) and just allow the player to read dialogue. Biggest gameplay criticism I can make is how empty the landscapes feel. This I believe is more to do with the low player count right now (what with it being a small project in EA that not many know about!) than anything else, so I'm hoping that will diminish with time as content progresses and grows. Great pricing for an ambitious project such as this, I definitely recommend at the very least wish listing to see how it progresses :)

Combat needs some improvement, AI voice acting is shoddy, and there's a lot of work to be done, but I'm having a good time. At it's current state, probably won't appeal to a lot of people but there's an audience out there. It's a $6 MMORPG with crafting, classless progression, an open world to explore. I say give it shot.
