About Cave Hikers
Cave Hikers is a relaxing and humorous 2D interactive cartoon mockumentary that follows three characters through a cavernous world, on a quest to find the mystical “cave with an infinite ceiling”. The game starts in the hometown of the characters, from which they embark on an exciting adventure of building a catapult and filing paperwork to be fired off further into the unknown parts of their cavernous worlds. Flip the HOPA, reach the topa!
Features:
- Documentary style - The story is narrated as if the characters are creatures in a nature documentary.
- The book of caves - The game comes with a book, both as in-game images and a pdf for printing and reading. The book is wordless and contains sketches of flora and fauna, but it also has recipes for magic potions that will be mixed by the player in the game.
- Alchemy - collect some ingredients, mix some potions. shake some test tubes.
- Everyone waves at you - Any character you hover with the cursor will wave at the player. It’s a feature never before seen on this scale and was proven to cause delight with everyone ever.
- Co-financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

This has been an amazing experience! Everything about this game is either perfect, or very close to! The visual style is amazing, often mesmerizing! Animations are plentiful and they're very fun to interact with. Game design is very creative and often got me to chuckle :) Music and audio effects are excellent, set the mood well and complement the animations really nicely. And last but not least, the English narrator is a treat! At first I thought this was a children's game, and I suppose that is the primary target audience, but I found myself quickly lost in this world, an adult close to 40. So don't let the art style turn you away. If you've ever played Amanita Design's games like Machinarium or Creaks, you'll feel right at home. This game gives very similar vibes. I think the game can improve some of the following to make it an even better experience: * I would love a button to repeat the last subtitle, as it often contains clues I missed on the first listen. * Sometimes the game doesn't save well. I ended up having to re-do a puzzle when relaunching the game * If you could get the game to work in native 4K or higher, I think it would look even better. PS: Pla…2 found this helpful
This game has the goofy charm of a confused pigeon. It's a tiny, cozy adventure for anyone who enjoys silly fun and nonsense. Beware of balloons :D1 found this helpful
Cave hikers is a nice, relaxing adventure game with hidden object elements. The best aspects for me were the colorful graphics/art style, those cute, sympathetic characters, and the humor. The English language narrator of the story is very good, it's obviously an actor. It's good that the puzzles are intuitive and easy, which is not the case in many adventure games nowadays. In Cave Hikers, everything can be solved relatively easily. For every puzzle it becomes clear very quickly what you have to do, and for some of them you have to try a few times in order to move on, like in the last puzzle sequence, but in the end you will succeed and you will feel a sense of accomplishment because no you tube walkthrough will be needed. The game seems to be made especially for children and young people, or for families so that parents can play with their own children. The game is very short. The story could have been developed a little more and it ends abruptly, in my opinion. For example, it's not explained who the Cave Hikers are and why they decided to go on that adventure? What is their motivation/quest? To conclude, I recommend this game to people who want to rest and …1 found this helpful
enjoyed it
Really cute miniature. If you can pick this up for maybe £2 or whatever that is in Euros then this is an appealing, charismatic way to unwind and relax. Very cute and positive but never saccharine; this feels influenced by picture books and makes the subterranean world into a magical adventure. The gameplay is mostly this hidden object search but with other types of games and puzzles sprinkled in and while on the hole pretty easy there are some head scratching moments. Nothing oblique, you just have to think carefully about using what is at your disposal or even right in front of you. Nothing hevy, just a bit of fun. It's hard to say who this is really for since it seems a bit cutesy for adults and a bit too restrained for kids but I liked it and I'm one of those adults that likes picture books and kids' shows. Also it must be said that Aki is so cute and hot... maybe the second hottest cephalod I've seen in fiction this year after Rubie Gillman. Finally: it's a Croatian game. Croatia! What kind of art or media have you ever consumed that was Croatian? First Sweden gives us Little Nightmares, then Gris from Spain and Italy gives us Children of Silenttown...countries …
This was a charming puzzle game with puzzles that were mostly intuitive, some QTEs, and hidden object collectibles. Some puzzles were harder than others, simply because it took a while to figure out what they were asking for, but nothing that kept me stuck for too long. The narrator was fantastic, and I would absolutely recommend it for younger players, or people who want something laid back and stress free.
