I came across SKIP by accident and it turned out to be a delightful puzzle game. On startup, the first thing you'll notice is that ALL text is in a different language (SKIPLISH). So, your first task is to translate the various characters into a known alphabet. Once this is accomplished, you are able to translate environmental labels and game clues. You find tokens, fuses, clues/pages, and a couple of other items along the way. Each puzzle you solve unlocks a door and gives you clues or objects for moving ahead. At first, the environment feel maze-like, but once you know the language and can read signs, you can zip about with ease. Taking notes is a must for this game. Perhaps I am old-school, but there is something satisfying about using a pencil to work things out on paper. Almost all achievements are story-based and the game auto-saves on exit. I did notice that, when returning, all your inventory is intact but you may not return to your exit location. You may also have to repeat some object manipulations that are not part of a completed puzzle. SKIP is the work of one developer who has done a really nice job of creating an environment (art and sound) that is pleasant to nav…

A short but well-designed puzzle game. The central challenge might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like scribbling in a notebook this is a great opportunity for you. Not much going on beyond the main gimmick but just enough to round it out.

The purpose of this review is to give this game another solid thumb's up. I had a lot of fun with it. Read CindyK_JA's excellent review if you want to know more about the actual game. I agree with everything in that review.

SKIP is a tight little puzzle game, very unique in its presentation and execution. The entire game (including the game menu itself) is presented in an alien language, and most of the puzzles revolve around the player deciphering these words and messages. It's definitely a game where you'll need a notepad on the desk. The environments and presentation feel very clean and thoughtful, it doesn't feel like some cobbled-together Unity jankery. As you continue to explore the strange environments, you slowly unravel hints of a strange tale concealed beneath the cryptograms. It's short (about 3-4 hours) and sweet, with some light spooky horror elements. I highly recommend this game if you're a puzzle-head, especially for the price. But be prepared to take lots of notes and to be confused a lot.
