About Super Star Adventure

Super Star Adventure is the 1-bit RPG that with active combat using direction inputs and timing to dodge each attack!

The ship Explorer-01 hits a meteor field above Astralis, a planet full of weird tech, weird places, and even weirder creatures.Your mission: Find your lost crew. Simple, but everything on Astralis is either broken, cursed, alive, or some combo of the three. You'll explore the planet, barter with shady shops, and maybe punch a Shardkin or two.Combat’s tactical but snappy. Dialogue’s weird. The whole thing plays like a forgotten Game Boy cart someone modded to have feelings.
It’s lonely out there, but not quiet.

Features:

 • Active Turn-Based Combat - Engaging fights where timing is important!
 • Three Damage Types - Balance Physical, Energy, and Mind attacks with their own stats to upgrade.
 • Exploration-Focused Gameplay - Search open zones, solve light puzzles, and find your crew.
 • Dialogue-Rich Story - Strange characters, cryptic lore, and a choice that shape how you’re remembered.
 • Original 1-bit Visual Style - Crisp pixel art in stark contrast with strange alien designs :)

I might be the first person to have beat this game. Honestly, it's really nice. It's kinda short, but it's a nice little experience. Nice little story, interesting turn-based combat, just an overall neat game. It's nothing world changing, but it's a good time.

Super Star Adventure is a retro science-fiction role-playing game that proves ambitious ideas do not require elaborate visuals to leave a lasting impression. Developed and published by Peter Stubbs, the game embraces an intentionally minimalist "1-bit" aesthetic while delivering a surprisingly rich adventure filled with exploration, character progression, unusual encounters, and multiple story outcomes. Beneath its simple appearance lies an engaging RPG that captures the spirit of classic genre titles while introducing enough modern design elements to feel fresh and rewarding. The story begins with disaster. A scientific expedition aboard the Explorer-01 is interrupted when a meteor shower cripples the ship and forces an emergency crash on the mysterious planet Astralis. Separated from the rest of the crew and stranded in an unfamiliar environment, the protagonist must venture into the unknown in search of survivors. This straightforward premise serves as an effective starting point, allowing the game to gradually reveal a much larger mystery hidden beneath the surface of the planet. Astralis quickly becomes one of the game's greatest strengths. The world is filled with strange t…
Warning: AI Slop The game soundtrack is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
This is an unusual bit of garbage on the Steam Direct part of the store... certainly with an eye watering price tag for a game where the developer couldn't work out how to do PC game graphics at even 1990s levels, there's some delusion on that point, there's actually a game here. Not a good one. This inauthentic looking monochrome pixelcrap features several different game modes and also some AI slop. Take on the role of a spaceman on an alien planet and do top down adventuring, reading cringe e-book writing, platforming, even QTE gameplay. All of which is so badly slapped together and badly presented gamers overwhelmingly rejected it. There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers coul…

Fun little game with a strong old school feel. The core gameplay loop is engaging and the combat system has a satisfying rhythm once it clicks. The defense and parry mechanics add tension to fights and make encounters feel active rather than passive. The characters feel distinct and the dialogue is a highlight. It is witty and well written, and it actually made me giggle more than once. That said, the timing window for parries feels quite strict early on. It can be tough to get the hang of it in the beginning, so slightly easing players into it could make the first hours smoother without losing challenge later. Overall, the gameplay is solid and enjoyable. With a bit of early balancing, this could hook a lot of players for the long run.

Great art, storytelling and the combat is fun too! It's giving Undertale vibes so far :)
