The colorful graphics, responsive controls, excellent soundtrack, and variety of content including multiple worlds, survival mode, and visual options earn consistent appreciation, with developers noted for actively listening to feedback. I really enjoyed this shmup much more than I thought I would. Dev listens to feedback and has been improving it since launch too. It plays a lot like Galaga except this game is much better because you can get upgrades to your ship and combine what you want to match your play-style. Graphics are colorful and music is pretty good too. There's 9 worlds with dozens of levels and a boss at the end of each world. You earn XP points for every kill which you use to get permanent upgrades. I think that would classify this as rogue-lite. Theres also survival mode (endless) for extra challenge. Leaderboards are included as well as retro mode with optional CRT curve and scanlines, or you can turn these off for a more crisp, clean presentation. I usually always go for the crisp presentation but this game i turned the scanline effect on as it looks really nice in my opinion. Steam achievements are done really well and there's a lot of them which is great too. Dev has been adding many QOL features and extra touches here and there that has improved the game a lot which i think should get more sales and attention. If you enjoy shmups please give this game a shot, its pretty good!!7 found this helpful
first of all my apologies for reviewing this game very lately considering I bought it when it has been released. I wanted to be able to play it more before reviewing it. the graphics are great, with very beautiful colors. music and sound are excellent as well. I like the gameplay very much, the game is very fun to play! It's been made with so much care. I don't play indie game very often, thinking there are new games I like, and tons of classic ones as well. It's especially true for shoot them up games, which is a kind of games I love since the late 80s. I enjoy this game very much, and will keep playing it. I strongly recommend it!5 found this helpful
Very nice and fun game! It's a mix of vertical shmup, space invaders and roguelite. Good keyboard controls, music graphics and sound are all well done and brings me memories of the coin op, amiga and atari st pre internet era. The developer cares about the game, it's still being updated. Buy it and support indie devs guys they are our only hope in a sea of ''AAA'' garbage.3 found this helpful
A good, cheap and fun 'survivor like' SHMUP. Lots of different modes too.3 found this helpful
Galactic Plague 2000 is a retro-inspired space shooter that combines classic arcade gameplay with modern roguelite progression systems and upgrade mechanics. Developed by Yacoobs C.M and TR Old School Gamer, the game clearly pays tribute to old-school vertical shooters from the arcade era while adding enough modern ideas to keep the experience engaging for contemporary players. Instead of simply recreating the exact structure of older shoot ’em ups, it expands the formula with unlockable weapons, persistent progression, multiple game modes, and a surprisingly large amount of content for a smaller indie title. The gameplay revolves around piloting a starfighter through endless enemy formations, dodging massive waves of projectiles, and defeating increasingly dangerous alien bosses. From the very beginning, the controls feel responsive and easy to understand, allowing players to focus entirely on positioning and reaction speed. Combat is fast and aggressive, constantly pushing players to stay in motion while weaving through enemy fire and searching for opportunities to maximize damage output. The pacing rarely slows down, which helps maintain the same intense arcade energy that insp…3 found this helpful
A great arcade shooter: fun, direct, and just the right amount of challenge. The Bottom Line: Galactic Plague 2000 is a solid shmup. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it executes the basics very well. It’s an honest game: you jump in, shoot everything that moves, die, try again, and have fun in the process. The Good: Well-Made Visuals: The game looks good. The option to toggle between modern visuals and "retro" mode (with CRT filters) is a really cool touch that pleases both nostalgia fans and those who prefer cleaner graphics. Fluid Gameplay: The controls are responsive, which is essential in this genre. The ship moves exactly how you want it to, so when you die, you feel like it was your fault, not the game's. Soundtrack: The music matches the frenetic action perfectly. It might not be something you’d listen to outside the game, but it does a great job of keeping the energy up. Good Challenge: The game doesn't hand you victory on a silver platter. The bosses have interesting patterns and require focus, but nothing feels impossible or unfair after a few tries. Conclusion: If you like the genre and want something to unwind and test your reflexes with, Galactic Plague …3 found this helpful
