About You Shouldn't Be Here

You Shouldn't Be Here is a short psychedelic visual novel that takes place in a strange world filled with harrowing creatures. You’ll meet Dimitriv who is willing to keep you safe as long as you help him with something. The story touches on topics such as mental health, exclusion, and various other existential questions. The gritty pixel-art, together with the somewhat erratic and despairing soundtrack, intends to create a dreamlike, bordering on nightmarish, atmosphere. In the shape of the infinite, I am one.Swallowed by an ocean of bliss. No choices to be made,no stories to unfold,no riddles to solve. No, nothing at all…You really shouldn’t be here..

Not so much a game, but rather a short story visual novel. It's practically the same as reading a picture book with music. I don't think I can relate to the story this game is trying to tell. So for me, it just came off as rather pretentious. It felt akin to the Royal Tart Toter's speech from Adventure Time; like a whole bunch of big / deep sounding words and sentences with very little actual meaning. The atmosphere, music, and visuals are great though! I loved that. Also very easy to get 100% achievements for the hunters out there. Honestly, I think this title just wasn't for me.

Developed and published by Doomster Entertainment, You Shouldn't Be Here is an indie psychological horror visual novel that confidently embraces the strange and the uncomfortable. Rather than presenting players with a conventional horror adventure filled with elaborate mechanics and branching outcomes, it delivers a brief but potent descent into an unsettling realm where every encounter feels deliberately out of place. The game's title serves as both a warning and a mission statement, immediately setting expectations for an experience built around alienation, uncertainty, and existential unease. The story begins with the player crossing paths with Dimitriv, a mysterious being who offers assistance in navigating a world populated by disturbing entities. From there, the narrative unfolds through cryptic conversations and surreal imagery, steadily revealing themes centered on isolation, self-destruction, and the fragility of the human psyche. Doomster Entertainment makes it clear that this is not a tale interested in straightforward answers. Instead, the game encourages players to interpret its symbolism and piece together meaning from fragmented dialogue and environmental details. T…

A wee-bit preachy, but it's got a point at least, and doesn't waste your time getting to it. The surrealist art direction was a visual treat(at least to me), and felt like a labor of love, even if the artist may be greener than some of their peers.

I love these kind of games, where the developers surley snorted some drugs, just to tell me don't do drugs! And also stay away from junkie poets!

Nice game. Don't do "angel's milk" but if you do, ask for help so you don't end up like Dimitriv. Be safe ya'll.
