In the pocket of the coat the orderlies carelessly tossed into the evidence room lies a lottery ticket. A winning one. For a million. Flying Over the Penguin’s Hollow is a short graphic novel with a film noir feeling and a wicked sense of humor. It is the second title released by the developer Reanim in the last few weeks, and it bears marked similarities to Defective Detectives. The gameplay, the style of music, and the graphics are very much the same in both titles. In Flying Over, the main character is Vinnie. He is a two-bit thief with an inflated sense of self-worth. After acquiring a winning lottery ticket, he lands in a mental institution and is separated from his good fortune. To reclaim his ticket and escape, he teams with Da Vinci – a frustrated artist who has run out of space to paint on his own body. The two navigate their way past a host of bizarre staff members as they sneak their way to freedom. There are no voice-overs, no puzzles, and no inventory. The game consists of illustrations and narrative dialog, with an occasional choice of actions to take next. Usually, only one choice lets the story progress and the others lead to some interesting “game over” descriptions. To minimize replay, I saved my progress each time a choice appeared. This allowed me to go back and make a different selection w…13 found this helpful
A Quirky Noir Escape Worth Your Time 🎮
Sometimes you stumble upon a game that surprises you with its charm and originality. Flying over the penguin's hollow is exactly that kind of hidden gem. This visual novel adventure throws you into the role of Vinnie, a self-proclaimed trickster with a winning lottery ticket and a rather unfortunate location - Penguin Hollow, which appears to be less of a resort and more of a mental institution.
Story and Atmosphere 🎨
The 1930s noir aesthetic immediately catches your eye. Rain, jazz music, and straitjackets create an atmosphere that's both unsettling and oddly captivating. The narrative unfolds as a race against time - you have less than 24 hours to execute your escape plan while keeping that precious lottery ticket safe. Dialogue choices matter here. Every interaction with the unique cast of characters can shift the story in unexpected directions. The staff members prove to be more frightening than the patients, and finding common language with them becomes crucial for survival.
Gameplay Experience ⚖️
Puzzle-solving forms the core of the experience. Each challenge requires you to think like a madman t…2 found this helpful

Flying over the penguin's hollow is a dark comedy adventure developed by Reanim Games and published by STuNT that blends interactive storytelling, exploration, puzzle-solving, and absurd humor into a strange but entertaining narrative experience. Rather than focusing on traditional mystery elements or serious dramatic storytelling, the game builds its identity around chaos, bizarre situations, and a protagonist whose confidence dramatically outweighs his actual abilities. It embraces surreal comedy fully and transforms failure into one of its greatest storytelling strengths. The story follows Vinnie, a small-time criminal whose self-image exists in a completely different universe from reality. In his own mind, he is a brilliant strategist and master manipulator capable of handling any situation. In practice, he struggles to accomplish even the simplest crimes successfully. His latest failure eventually lands him inside Penguin Hollow Island Mental Hospital, a place that quickly proves far stranger than expected. Things become even more complicated when he realizes a valuable lottery ticket sits beyond his reach and time is running out before his opportunity disappears permanently.…1 found this helpful
An adventure where you take on the role of Vinnie, a criminal mastermind trapped in a mental institution with a million-dollar lottery ticket in his pocket. The game's main assets are its gorgeous 1930s noir atmosphere and crazy puzzles that require you to completely abandon your common sense.1 found this helpful
