PEXIT 8 is a small free horror puzzle game that takes the basic idea of walking through the same hallway over and over and gives it a very strange penguin twist. I walk through the corridor and have to pay attention to whether anything has changed. If I spot an anomaly I need to choose the correct exit, while a normal hallway means I need to choose the other one. I have to get eight decisions right in a row to escape, so even though the actual gameplay is very simple, one mistake can send me back to the start. The penguin theme is what makes the game stand out for me. The anomalies are all connected to penguins, so instead of just looking for random changes I am watching for strange things involving the penguins around the hallway. Some are fairly obvious, while others can be much harder to notice because the change is small. I like this because the cute penguins make the game feel harmless at first, but the atmosphere can still become surprisingly unsettling when I realise something is not quite right.
