"Arena of Suffering" is a fun mid-length JRPG/dungeon crawler hybrid made with RPG Maker MZ, featuring a light-hearted, self-aware story (although without dialogues between party members), a lot of quests and many well hidden secrets. The player gets to command four party members and can choose between nine different classes, which utilize a variety of useful skills (tip: Absolutely add a Pyromancer to your party). Battles are turn-based (front-view), and the well designed 10 or so dungeons feature a mix of fixed and random encounters. While dungeon runs can be repeated, it's usually possible to fulfill all objectives in one run, though the player can always return later to discover any previously missed secrets, especially since nothing in this game is permanently missable. Each successful first completion of a dungeon unlocks that dungeon's enemies in the eponymous "Arena of Suffering", where the player can kill these monsters to obtain tokens, which can be exchanged for very useful stuff (passive skills in particular). Unfortunately, fighting in the arena grants the player only EXP, not Gold (with one negligible exception), which makes it hard to afford the best equipment for a…3 found this helpful
