✦ AI summary
Players praise Archons Arena's polished mechanics, intuitive design, and the engaging fusion of deck-building with RPG progression systems that encourage experimentation and replayability. However, some feel the game is too simplistic compared to similar titles like Slay the Spire, with limited deck-building depth and basic graphics that, while nostalgic, don't offer enough content for long-term engagement despite being fun for several hours.
EA Deckbuilding RPG + replability + skills = Collect gold and skill points to buy EQ/skills that add cards to your deck. Enemies get more challenging as you advance. Looking forward to updates.
Not Enjoyable Enough
I enjoy deck building games like Slay The Spire, Inscryption and Monster Train so I thought I would enjoy Archons Arena. But it's not enjoyable enough for me and had to refund the game (which I don't do often). Positives: the game is intuitive and easy to pick up and the sound is good. Negatives: it's too simple even the RPG (weapons, armor etch) elements. The deck building is limited and the graphics are simple1 found this helpful
I really enjoyed this game! I like how customizable your deck can be and I think the ability to equip different kinds of equipment with different levels adds a fun way to adapt the game to your own personal version. The graphics are fun, almost feels nostalgic. All the sounds and music fit very well and adds to the full experience. The game was fairly intuitive and easy to pick up and just play. Overall I think it's a fun, easy to understand, engaging game that has a good amount of replay-ability. Would definitely recommend to someone who likes these kind of game.1 found this helpful
"Archons: Arena" caught me off guard, and in a good way. As someone not particularly keen on deck-building games, I was pleasantly surprised by what this title had to offer. The game's core mechanics are well-polished, with balanced gameplay that demonstrates the developers' careful thought and testing. The fusion of deck-building and RPG elements in a single-player setting is surprisingly engaging. While it might not keep you invested for an extended period, it provides hours of enjoyment, especially given the multitude of items and skills that practically beg for experimentation across multiple playthroughs. What truly piqued my interest were the mechanics that carry over between battles, preventing them from feeling disjointed. For instance, the limited durability of equipment forces you to consider your finances several battles ahead, while health and injuries from one fight can influence your decision to invest in a health potion before the next encounter. Visually and aurally, "Archons: Arena" is consistent and of high quality. The artwork for cards, skills, and items is particularly appealing. It's evident that the developers have a clear roadmap and intend to keep expand…
The game is well-polished in all aspects, and the gameplay seems decently balanced. The developers have put a lot of thought and testing into this game. The combination of deck-building with RPG elements in a single-player game is surprisingly entertaining. Although it might not have players invested for a very long time, it can be fun for hours, especially with the number of items and skills that make it unattainable to try everything out in a single playthrough. It is fascinating how buying and equipping different equipment and learning various skills translates into deck building. But perhaps the most intriguing mechanics are those that overlap multiple fights, thus making them less disconnected. For example, the limited equipment durability makes you think about your finances numerous battles ahead or how health and injuries from a fight make you consider spending money on a health potion if you don't want to bring them to your next fight. The overall visuals and sound design of the game are very consistent and on a high level. The artwork for the cards, skills, and items is especially nice. It also seems that the developers have a clear roadmap and will continue adding additi…
Archons Arena is a very simple, enjoyable deck building card game to play, since I don’t play much card/deck games, I started with the tutorial and everything was well explained, a big skills book/tree which you can make different builds and play with them. When it comes to fights, you need to do tactics and the enemies are designed to make you do tactics, enemy diversity is good for an Early Access game and which I believe will be developed further. So this game might be given a chance and I believe won’t let you down.
