I really want to love this game. There's so much stuff about it (the art style, some of the abilities, the character designs) that really appeal to me. Unfortunately, this game has a lot of design choices that (in my opinion) feel like they're working against the player. Lots of things are neither hinted at nor explained, but are essential to advance through the game. In spite of the game providing 'cheat codes' to round out some of the rougher edges of the gameplay, so many choices just waste the player's time and create frustration where there doesn't need to be any. Down to little things like the clunkiness of the menus and controls - some frequently used moves have you pressing three buttons at once when there are single buttons on the controller that go unused, and nearly all key menus require going through multiple layers to actually get to. I ultimately had to give up on it because it was a pain to play through, even though I really wanted to finish it. I don't often write reviews on Steam, but I felt like I needed to for this game. I genuinely tried to give Cosmobreeder Yiffai a fair chance. The sprites are great, the premise is fun, and I went in hoping for a spicy metroidvania with some retro charm. Instead, I got a game that feels like someone tried to recreate NES difficulty from memory after only ever watching rage compilations. The platforming is stiff, punishing, and built around animation lock so severe that half the hits you take feel like you got punished for daring to press a button. I ended up using three cheats at once — less knockback, less damage, and double jump — just to make basic traversal feel remotely playable. And honestly, that’s the moment it clicked for me: When the developer gives you cheats as a band‑aid for the design, that’s not retro difficulty — that’s an apology. The late‑game grind for scenes is tedious, the difficulty spikes are absurd, and the “retro challenge” mostly comes from jank, not clever enemy patterns or tight controls. Ninja Gaiden was hard. Ghosts ’n Goblins was hard. This is just exhausting. I made it almost to the end before I finally tapped out. It's a very well put together retro style game. The level and fight design is especially great, demanding that you understand your limits and work with them, not against them.

This game was created by a furry porn artist. And also the porn he makes is controversial within the community itself. There are pornographic scenes inside of the game once you complete certain objectives. Not sure if that will impact your decision making with buying this game, but I played this game when it was a demo on Itch dot IO. All of the mechanics from the demo are intact here which is really cool to see. I've been following this game for a long time so to see everything make it into the full release makes me very happy. I don't enjoy that the demo is gone off Itch now that this is published, because it ruins game preservation in case this game ever gets deleted off Steam. This game plays similar to Castlevania Symphony Of The Night where you have to level up your character, do platforming, and defeat bosses for character upgrades. My favorite exploit from the original game was to punch the spiky enemies that go back and forth because it levelled you up very quickly. That exploit still works here but it takes just the same amount of time as it did in the demo. Space Doggo on an Adventure! What else can I say? A very solid platformer that brings back the memories and feel of the Classics. Just do yourself a favor and play it with controller! Anthro-theming is always a big plus is my eyes - 'even' without the Hot Sauce. And let's just say Furries won't be disappointed with what the game 'can' offer...

I definitely recommend this game, however, as Steam only has yes/no binary for reviews, I absolutely hate many aspects of this game and I have to get them out first: It is most definitely super cool aspect that I could whip out my NES controllers and be able to play this game with those. However the game gets relatively complex in later half and basically all abilities and movements are tied into up/down+button combinations, which leads into many, many, instances where I believed I executed e.g. jump challange correctly, but still end up falling because of misstiming. Game is fair and polished, so I didn't feel any indie jank™️ on jump timings, but still requires a lot of mental and finger gymnastics. Similarly all menus are bound under one button where you have to press second button to open menu for menus which then opens menu you want where you have to press button again to open new menu to get to thing you want, simply because they are arbitarily limiting buttons to what was on NES controller. It's current year, I have controller with more than two buttons, why not let me use these and have the combinations simply as option? Why not have dedicated button to open up map? Rem…
