About Microvania

Microvania is a tiny metroidvania

So tiny, that the screen resolution is only 160x90!It's so small that you can also complete the game in a single session!

Explore the depths of planet Micronus

Traverse and backtrack through meticulously crafted pixels of caves, jungles, labs, ruins, and more.  Almost every room has a hidden item or a secret path.  Can you find them all?

Find and make use of classic upgrade tropes

Missiles, Claw, Ball-Mode and more!

Customise your play style

Equip Microcards to modify your weapons and abilities.  Create your own play style.  Just make sure you've found enough Microcells to power them.

Microvania respects your time

Don’t worry about saving your progress - the game will create a checkpoint every time you enter a room, and you will spawn back here if you die.And quitting to the main menu will save your game where you are, so you can jump right back in on your next session.

Accessibility & Full Controller Support

Designed for controllers, with fully customisable buttons.  Including accessibility options like rapid fire or toggle modes for various functions.  If a boss gives you trouble, you can use the "Respawn at Boss" setting to make them easier to fight.

... and you can pet the snail!

✦ AI summary

Players praise this Metroidvania for its engaging exploration, faithful yet fresh take on the genre, charming retro aesthetics, and excellent non-linear progression that keeps them hooked for hours. The main complaint centers around boss fights, which many find tedious, unclear, and frustratingly difficult with unclear hit zones, though the exploration and overall map design are consistently celebrated.

This game does a great job of reintroducing the exploratory draw of the genre. It remains faithful to its predecessors while feeling fresh. I had a hard time putting it down.

This game is very cute! I got about 90% of the items on the map before finishing the game, and I had a blast while doing it. Very good progression and backtracking for sickos like me who like that sort of thing. I personally couldn't handle the filter on the game, so I'm glad there is an option to turn that off. When I played it there were some very janky bugs that didn't break the game and just brought a smile to my face when I encountered them. I'm not sure if they have all been fixed, but it was great fun.

Great game here. Cool retro graphics. Nice music. Id love to have the soundtrack. A couple frustrating bosses. A fun experience.

It's fine. I wish you could teleport to any teleporter rather than the single assigned location. The map was confusing to read at times. I felt like you moved really slow. Exploration was really good though. There's secrets pretty much everywhere. Way too expensive for what you get.

The exploration aspect of this game scratches an itch in my brain, but the boss fights are really tedious. It isn't clear where u should shoot at on the bosses, and randomly shooting doesn't help at all. I got frustrated and quit at the lava worm fight.

A great map to explore. Bosses I'm iffy on, I generally am not a fan of vania bosses (or most games almost lol). It can be a fun and "dynamic" challenge, but sometimes it really just felt like I was fighting Moldorm from Zelda Link to the Past (which imo is a terrible boss with too much damage, tediousness and RNG). Especially felt this towards the lava worm and a little bit in the mother brain fight, I guess the ice mecha scorpion too (moth was a push over). You can experience some NES Metroid shenanigans that almost feel intentional like getting shot through multiple rooms, but if you have a clear line of sight you can return the favour. A couple more music tracks would've been nice but what's here is good. Visuals are great. I wish the rebinding input menu was a bit more human. I also was a bit confused on if I actually "equipped" my upgrades like "fast ball" or "strong claw". Not that it mattered, I didn't deem them necessary as bad as I am. I got to "Mother Brain" in 3 hours and then spent a further 3 to get 100% map completion and 70% items. The shortcuts and platforming teasers for some collectables are really good despite the very real JANK. Still a rec if you love vanias.
