Stellar Settlers: Space Base Builder

I care a lot about worldbuilding in games, and to be honest, I cannot take the game seriously when the first screen shows dozens of AI-generated character portraits and landscapes. That AI-generated stuff made me lose 100% of my interest in the game. If they don't care about the characters and places they created enough to avoid using cheap garbage that shouldn't even serve as placeholders, why would I care?

If you want a city building game where you can't lose and every level becomes the same, then this is your game. It's a slow, ponderous, and dull builder. I could forgive the overly 'chill' nature of the game if it wasn't so buggy and likely to crash when you inevitably minimize the game to play something else while your resources tick up. Most frequent issues: Game crashes Unable to build things that require ground floor, on the ground. Unable to build tunnels at random Connecting building pretend they aren't connected until rotated 360 degrees Icons disappear such as 'settlers sick' or 'building damaged' Loading a saved game just starts a new one, wiping your data If the game worked, it might be worth a few bucks.

I want to like this game, really. But the more I play it the more frustrating it gets. it lacks polish and seems like its still a beta version. and the whole rocket building part seems like a badly implemented last moment addition. the parts are nearly impossible to align meaning that building something that is stable after launch is much more luck than skill. I doubt I will play this much more and glad I got it at a discount because if I had paid full price for it I'd be angry. The is one of the few games that I do not recommend.
