About Planetbase

✦ AI summary

Guide a group of space settlers as you build and manage a self-sufficient planetary outpost, balancing oxygen, food, water, and energy while navigating production chains and resource extraction. Navigate four increasingly challenging planets with realistic colony-building mechanics, surviving disasters and intruders as you grow from a handful of pioneers into a thriving settlement of hundreds.

Planetbase is a strategy game where you guide a group of space settlers trying to establish an outpost on a remote planet. In the game you play the role of the base architect and manager, telling your colonists where to build the structures they will need to survive. You will have to ensure that they have a constant supply of oxygen, food and water to stay alive. You will get them to collect energy, extract water, mine metal, grow food, manufacture bots, and build a fully self-sufficient base in a harsh environment, where you are always one step away from total failure.
Even if the game is not intended to be a simulator, all the mechanics are plausible, and based on what the expected challenges of establishing a colony in an new planet would be.

Features:

  • Four different planets with different conditions and increasing difficulty.
  • Harness solar and wind energy (if available) in order to power the base's structures.
  • Grow hydroponic Vegetables and synthesize Vitromeat to feed your population.
  • Mine and produce raw resources, process them, manufacture goods, and establish a production chain.
  • Carefully manage the colonist immigration flow to ensure you have the people with the right skills.
  • Survive disasters like meteors, sandstorms or solar flares and defend your base from intruders.
  • Mechanize your base by creating your own bots that will help with the more arduous tasks.
  • Grow your colony from a few initial pioneers to a vibrant planetbase with hundreds of colonists.

Me: Lands on a new world. Quickly sets up a base before night falls. All my colonists almost die from lack of oxygen from power running out. Daytime arrives and I barely survive. Base grows exponentially overtime and have almost beat the game. Within 1 hour, 3 meteors destroy my power supply, a solar flare kills my other colonists stuck outside, and the cherry on top with pirates surrounding the base and stopping any chance of repairs. My whole colony is destroyed. Repeat the cycle because its fun. Absolute cinema.

Only reason I don't recommend this game is the main item needed to keep your colonists alive will refuse to use the rights ingredients and will kill your base with sheer stupidity....

The game is fun, but feels unfinished. Its clunky and time consuming, despite having very little actual content. The devs just abandoned this like the rest of their games, and the result is a secquel to a half finished game that will likely also be half finished.

This is the most frustrating game I've ever played and that's saying something. What I hate is I can have a thriving colony then, for no apparent reason, my food just quits producing and one by one I watch my colonist perish. No matter how many biologist I have, in fact that just seems to make the situation worse. I like the game otherwise and have spent many hour playing but this is so frustrating that the juice just isn't worth the squeeze. Since my down vote on this game I've learned a couple of tricks that have paid off. For anyone else who has found this game to be frustrating I have a couple of hints that might help. (could be considered spoilers) 1.You need at least two biologist for every five colonist. 2.You need a lot of canteen food producers and starting out only produce low maintenance vegies along with one medicinal producer and one starch produce. Like I said before, I really like the game but maintaining successful food production was very frustrating.
