Viking Heroes 5

I would recommend this game for the Steam Winter Sale. Ironically, however, I bought it for the Steam Summer Sale, so none of the Xmas stuff resonated with me. The story didn't make any sense as it was just a random collection of levels, but then it made sense because the bad guy is a giant raven and everything was an illusion. Anyway, the game does what it advertises: it is a time management puzzle starring Everand, Boromere, Brunnhilde and Helga, so it gets one pinky finger up. Even so, I enjoyed other entries in the series more, as I found this one a bit grindy and incoherent, and the element-puzzles were a bit random. Also, I recommend casual mode as some levels aren't well balanced for speed, though all are doable eventually.

time management game, just as good as all the others

This is a casual time management game where you need to complete 50 levels to unlock all the achievements. It takes about 8 hours to complete the game and unlock all the achievements. Most achievements are unlocked by just playing the game. The art style and gameplay is really nice and it is a nice way to waste some time while you are waiting on something else.

Updated Review - 4/17/25 Summary: Excellent time management game for experienced gamers. Unique gameplay mechanics. Complex gameplay. Challenging time limits. Good worker run and work speed. Fleshed-out, super cheesy, but cute, story line. Unique Mechanic: In the Viking Heroes series, in addition to your regular workers, you have other characters (e.g. the four viking siblings) that you need to unlock on a level who have specific roles. (Helga does the magical stuff, Everand does the fighting, etc.) Controlling these separate characters with specific functions/abilities adds a new layer of complexity on top of a regular time-management game. It's the first time I've come across this mechanic (at least one that is fully developed). I am a very experienced casual gamer returning to the genre after 10+ years away. VH 5 was one of the first games I played on my return.
