About Perennial Order

Perennial Order is a 2D plant horror boss rush, set in an atmospheric Dark Age world plagued by nature-infested horrors.

Explore a mysterious world alone or with a friend, uncover a story through unusual NPCs, and cut down terrifying eldritch bosses, all in a painterly 2D style.

David vs. Goliath Combat

  • Uncover a unique boss around every corner that will test you in different ways.
  • Intense combat that utilizes twin stick melee controls.
  • One-Hit-Death. Respawn directly at the beginning of an encounter to learn quickly from your actions; spend your time fighting rather than walking.

Captivating 2D Style

  • A painterly 2D art style with a dark fantasy inspiration.
  • Themes and visuals akin to the world designs of titles like Dark Souls and Princess Mononoke.
  • Painstakingly crafted by 1 artist and 1 animator. We are developing the visual identity of Perennial Order through realistic, painterly techniques combined with 2D Spine animation.

Plagued by Nature

  • Immerse yourself in a dreary land where unspeakable horrors roam.
  • Discover Unusual NPCs and unravel more about this mysteriously beautiful world.
  • Explore a rich atmosphere through sounds and score, with musical themes distinct to each boss.

Bonded Journey

  • Experience the entirety of Perennial Order from start to finish with a friend.
  • Local and Online Co-Op.

    Key Features

    • Unique Bosses | Different mechanics to adapt to. Lovecraftian and terrifying battles.

    • Intriguing NPCs and World | A world worth exploring.
    • Online and Local Co-Op | Bonded Journey mode. 2 player adventure.

We like to describe Perennial Order as Hollow Knight meets Titan Souls - a beautiful dark atmosphere to explore, with boss-rush focused gameplay.

I liked playing this game. Artstyle and music are amazing. Combat feels good, but with caveats. I like the concept of bosses, but some of them just doesn't feel right in particular moments. SPOILERS AHEAD YOU ARE BEING WARNED I want to talk about 3 bosses in particular, where the concept of a cool boss outweighted the balance of this boss. 1.Grandmaster. Honestly, i really like this boss, he has a tonn of charisma. If he was in Fallout he would have 10 points of Charisma. When he put 6 queens on board i started laughing like an idiot. Concept of playing chess againts giant chess pieces is cool, but this fight, atleast as i felt, doesnt have enough saves during it. I mean, during bossfight you have to clear 4 waves of enemies, and only then the game will create a save and you will fight the last wave, BUT if you die during these 4 waves - you have fight them again, and these waves aren't easy, 6 queens and half of regular chess set are not easy when they attack you simultaneously. If devs intended it to be like this - no problem, in the end i completed it, but i felt like it could be funnier if didn't have to stress about clearing 3 waves and dying on fourth before final stage of bo…

Great time playing with a friend. The boss fight with the twins was really fun but I'm colourblind.

Perennial Order is a solid game. The Soundtrack and Artwork are quite well done, the setting is interesting, and there's quite a bit to enjoy about the combat. All in all I'd recommend the game, especially on sale. However, there are a few sticking points. First is that there is quite a lot of running back and forth through areas, often times ones you've already completed. This is through 3 manners: Not knowing which path is the optional one, backtracking through the area after killing the boss, and returning to prior areas after completing quest objectives. It's not bad unless you're trying to collect everything in the game, though; the area art *is* quite nice. The second and more important point to me is there's a bit of jank to the combat. The bosses themselves are interesting and mostly well designed, often created like puzzles you need to solve. There's also tests of skill, but they're fewer, and often require learning nearly unreactable attacks through memorization. However, there can be a *lot* of things to keep track of at once, and some odd hitboxes. For instance, when I parried one of the Oak Devils attacks, I would then immidiately die after my attack due to what I as…
