Polylithic

Great game. I love the theme and graphics. I bought this game after 1.0 released. Some people here are complaining about bugs, but the only ones I encountered did not affect my gameplay at all. Moreover, every day I find a small update from the devs, so they seem to be working hard. If you like the vibe, buy it, it is worth it. My only complaint is that the meelee combat system is kind of hard, mainly boars are terribly hard to hit and spears I find hard to control. Javelins and bows are working great. BUT I am not great at combat in most cases, so take that with a grain of salt.

[h1]Great atmosphere and potential, but needs quality-of-life polish[/h1] After nearly 15 hours of playtime, [i]Polylithic[/i] has proven to have incredible potential and a deeply engaging core loop. You can truly feel the prehistoric atmosphere—traveling alone through the dense forest while watching out for predators or hiding in the bushes at night gave me actual goosebumps. I also really enjoy the tech progression (though it could be even slower and deeper) and the clever mechanic where you have to manually complete an action multiple times before delegating it to your tribe members. However, despite being out of Early Access, several technical issues and QoL oversights need urgent attention from the developers: [list] [*] [b]Performance:[/b] Severe FPS drops and stuttering occur frequently, even on lower graphic settings. [*] [b]Pathfinding & AI:[/b] Villagers regularly get stuck on decorations around the campfire when heading to sleep. Animals also teleport across riverbanks instead of swimming or routing properly. Game is fun, but it needs some bug fixes.

I figured I would of enjoyed an hour on this game, but 14 in, I'm still impressed with the features, discoveries, and easter eggs. Sleeper hit.

Saw this hit 1.0 and hoped it wouldn't be too bad. Combat feels bad. Tried the clubs, have to be hugging the enemy to hit it. Tried the spear, it felt like the range of a punch. Even the enemies seem to miss a lot. Collecting items requires a press and hold of like a half a second of the pickup button. Can't just rapidly pick up sticks, stones, berries, etc. have to press and hold for each one. It feels tedious. Right click changes camera between always following behind the player and being fixed and allowing you to move the mouse cursor around the screen and turn the character any direction without the camera repositioning behind the player. Left click is attack and attacks in the direction of your mouse cursor. If you toggle to fixed, move the mouse to the lower left, then toggle back so the camera is following your character from behind and then try to attack, the character will turn around and face toward the lower left of your screen and attack. This was confusing and just feels bad. In other games with different camera options attacking while the camera is behind/following you makes you just attack directly in front of your character. I have played the pre-beta and already it was an entertaining experience, happy that the full version is out and I can enjoy the rest of the story :)
