Neolithic Dawn is an open world VR survival game set in 10,000 BC North America. Play as a lineage of Stone Age hunter-gatherers fighting to survive a world of mammoths, sabertooths, dire wolves, and harsh seasons across five large maps based on real-world locations in the Great Lakes region.
🐺 Tame Any Creature
Every animal in the world can become your ally. Feed a dire wolf to earn its loyalty. Befriend a mammoth to haul resources and intimidate predators. Choose whether to hunt or tame every creature you encounter.
🪓 Physics-Based VR Crafting

Let me be clear upfront… this was rough. https://youtu.be/BpGOiI93G8I Neolithic Dawn should be an easy win for me. VR survival, primitive setting, crafting, hunting, exploration… that’s my lane. I like survival crafters, I’ve put a ton of time into games like Ark, Conan, Grounded, The Forest. You put that into VR and it should be a slam dunk. It’s not. The biggest issue is that the game just doesn’t work consistently. Basic interactions fail constantly. Picking things up is unreliable, putting items into your backpack is a fight, and half the time objects don’t go where you expect them to. Sometimes they just fly behind you for no reason. The backpack system alone is enough to break the experience. I couldn’t reliably grab it, couldn’t consistently store items, and even lost tools because the game never clearly communicates where things go. There is a slot system, but the tutorial doesn’t explain it, and nothing behaves in a way that makes it intuitive. Controls are another major problem. On Index, hand alignment is off, both hands are angled the same way with no per-hand adjustment, and calibration is a mess. This game has had a ton of effort put into it and when you play the game its very apparent. There arent many true survival VR games and even fewer good ones so this game is a godsend for people like me who adore both genres. Great setting especially for a survival game, graphics are pretty good and the VR controls feel smooth. The game can probably use some QoL but nothing crazy... plus it has Coop! Edit: Great customer support and service is refreshing with smaller dev studios and Neolithic just did me a big solid. A few months ago they had an event to support the release of a patch with a giveaway for a free copy of the game. Its been a while since the contest and I couldn't find my key. In under 20 hrs they honored the event and got me a new key which I gave to a friend for his birthday! After being over loyal to another company with a monthly sub and being gravely disappointed with their horrible customer service. I feel like Neolithic deserved an extra nod for going above and beyond because a good game with an unique setting, VR Immersion amd great customer service for $20 is a great value deal! Why so laggy? Can't pick up anything, my body feels laggy while the game dosen't, and virtual desktop says I'm running good frames. cant get past the tutorial because of all of this.
