Shop Simulator: Pet Shop

I really wanted to like the game, but there are just too many things, I really didn't like. The art is cute, though it gets repetative, that all the animals move the same. Gameplay-wise I encountered quite a few bugs that were really annoying. My main issues with the game (and the reason why I can't recommend): * Placing Holger on the blue double bed does not work - the animals are shifted off the bed to the left * Something bugs out when you use a box to collect animals to place them on another shelf unit. Afterwards you move barely and when placing the box, it flies all over the place * Placing the snakes (Pete and Phoebe) on the table is a nightmare, you have to try all kinds of moving around to place the fourth animal (three work fine, the fourth you can't get the rectangle to show up that indicates placement area) * Any animal (except cats and dogs) makes you move backwards when you load one into the click & collect box, and you have to move forward to pick up another. It's seriously annoying * no customisation in terms of colors. The walls have an intense green tinge and the floor is light blueish. That alone clashes already and you can't change any of it. It barely feels like a pet shop. Identical animals arrive in crates—they don’t eat, sleep, or even poop. They don’t do anything.

I bought it in a fanatical bundle. The beginning is fun, exploring the creation of your own pet shop. Then there's an awkward phase where progress slows until you can hire a worker to act as a cashier. Once you sell a certain number of a type of item, that item is eligible to be automatically restocked. A cute game but gets boring quickly. As you get further through the progression, you find yourself stuck with just restocking and collecting the occasional online orders but not much more. Whilst the game does try to offer a variety of furniture items, you are unable to customize anything about your shop such as the walls, floors, etc. There are glitches when restocking certain animals as well. I wish there were more minigames or interactions as you progress to keep things interesting.

At first, this seemed like a cute little game like many other shop simulators. However, you realise very fast that the gameplay is very shallow, repetitive and most annoyingly, very buggy. These bugs can be annoying, but can also be game breaking. As other people have mentioned, some animals do not stand properly on their beds, can be very tricky to restock because of hitboxes, animals not automatically restocking, boxes flying around maniacally and of course, getting pushed back when trying to pick up anything that is not food or a cat and dog. Even if the bugs didn't exist, running the shop was more of a hustle than fun. Even when you get to have your cashiers, they are identical in speed even though they don't cost the same and they don't have perks or anything. If you decide to have an extra desk for yourself, you cannot turn it on/off so you can do other tasks as well. Automatic restocking is always buying things and doesn't care if you have items in storage, which is a shame. It kind of feels like a thrown together asset flip - taking a store plugin/asset and some royality free animals and just kinda making a "store - but you sell animals". There isnt a lot of depth and I feel like its a bit uninteresting.
