Terrinoth®: Heroes of Descent

I played the first campaign (act), so six missions out of 21. The game's turn-based combat started out fun, while story is forgettable standard fare, with extremely basic cut-scenes and rote atmosphere. Items and character development are very basic, but service the combats. What started like a servicable fast-food turn-based strategy game turned into a slog of combats with respawning enemies, culminating in a boss battle that was a chore even on normal difficulty, with a hit-point sponge boss who got multiple phases of invulnerability and supporting enemy casters who summoned additional units. Cannot recommend this for the sheer tedium the campaign even had in its first quarter. Should have been play-tested a bit more. edited to add: slogged through campaign two, final boss: 2200 HP on normal, lots of adds, reinforcements, here too, you need to first do stuff to attack boss. This is ridiculuous in terms of balancing for normal mode. 16% of players only finished the second campaign. Now you know why. HORRIBLE GAME DESIGN

Overall pretty fun, but combat quickly becomes tedious as every one becomes "When is the next wave coming" or "What gimmick will they add next" that starts to get boring the 4th or 5th time around.

8/10 AMAZING game! I have never played the board game but this is one hell of a title! Writing this review after completing my first playthrough and around 40+ hours. The not quite good stuff are the camera and map, caused quite a bit of a confusion at the start and along the way. Pretty sure most gamers can get past it. I like the customization of abilities, variety of heroes and most all the combat! Storyline is pretty good and ttrpg fans would really love this. Quests have plenty of fights and puzzles. Gamers complaining about the voice/ voice artists, seriously, give it a break. Conversations are quite comedic and background music is nice. Worth every penny. The adventure is REAL in Terrinoth! GO PLAY!!!

Fun game, second only to Dungeon of Naheulbeuk. After the disappointing Dungeon Keeper-like game and Crown Wars, the devs have finally returned to form.

-Mom, can we have Divinity? -No, we have Divinity at home. [h3]Story - 7/10[/h3] Pretty generic, straightforward, strictly linear with no choices. A classic story about a band of adventurers, who become world-saving heroes by accident. Nothing remotely mindblowing or memorable, but it doesn't make you outright cringe or anything. Mostly. The most badass narrative moment is the design of chapter selection being a stained glass, telling the legend of those heroes. Simplified progression, simplified combat, simplified everything, Not to the point of being overly casual, but requiring MUCH less brain, and offering MUCH less variety. The coop itself is a nice addition, but simply to experience the game together; you don't really get to roleplay or anything, plus the most important decisions are left up to the host. this is an excellent turn based game. Voiceover work is nice, story is generic but enough to keep it interesting. highly suggest picking it up
