About Wanderburg

✦ AI summary

Wanderburg is a minimalist roguelike where you command a mobile medieval fortress that hunts and consumes everything from villages to rival castles to grow into an unstoppable war machine. Build wildly different siege arsenals each run with modular cannons, wizard towers, and steam-powered contraptions, unlocking fresh strategies and game-breaking combinations between attempts.

Castles weren’t built to move. Now they do.Wanderburg is a minimalist roguelike set in a medieval world of roaming fortresses. Castles hunt, Villages flee. And only the biggest stronghold survives. What begins as a modest moving fortress quickly becomes a growing, devouring war machine that reshapes the battlefield with every run.

Roll forward and consume everything in your path. Fleeing villages, wandering flocks and smaller fortresses all feed your growth. Defeat powerful enemy castles to push your evolution further. Your castle does not just upgrade - it expands.
Steam-powered siege engines roll beside arcane artillery. Knights ride bicycles into battle. Massive strongholds fire broadsides like warships on land. And somewhere beyond the hills, something bigger is already on the move.Build your modular arsenal piece by piece. Mount cannons, raise arcane towers staffed with wizards, deploy explosives, and experiment with wildly different builds each run. Between runs, unlock new modules and vehicles that open up fresh strategies and game-breaking combinations.A modular progression system lets you expand your moving fortress with new siege modules and structures, while unlockable vehicles, artifacts and captains between runs steadily widen your strategic options and build variety. Fully playable with mouse, keyboard, or controller and highly optimized for almost anything you throw at it. Ready for potato.

✦ AI summary

Wanderburg is a charming early-access roguelike with fun gameplay variety, engaging unlock systems, and an appealing art style that players find works well on Steam Deck, though the UI and text rendering could use polish. Most players praise the well-balanced difficulty and build diversity, though some note the game lacks the dramatic synergy effects found in other roguelikes. Players generally recommend it as an enjoyable way to pass time, with the understanding that it's still in early access and has rough edges that need smoothing.

Visual design is neat. You've seen everything on offer quite quickly, every round looks about the same. In my opinion asking price is too steep for what's included. Seeing the lackluster roadmap I don't think I'll be returning to this.

I like the game. The music is good, the controls are responsive, the game performs well, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. I like that you can play a run and then turn it off. I read in some of the reviews that the progression is weak or non-existent. I like that it doesnt feel like youre playing a slot machine I was surprised how many elements of this game are similar to megabonk. I'm not an expert in this genre, but the game currency being silver, the campfire increasing your attack damage while you arent moving. In wanderburg you cant jump tho. I would like the ability for a jump. Maybe with a stomp that has a shockwave. When you beat a level you get into free play. Only a couple of times have I lasted more than 30 seconds in free play. It seems like the fun police come out and bomb me to death from out of my view. And the spinny knife things, too, theyre too powerful. Its like the game does not want me to play anymore. You can plan your run around upgrades to try to survive in free mode, with pushback and slowdown effects, and even that doesnt seem to help much. Maybe I just havent figured it out yet. In other games I have played in many genres free mode is where …

Mortal Engines?! In this economy... Crazy o(≧口≦)o The play cycle of Wanderburg is simple and easy to understand, graphics is great, and I had a lot of fun while putting the other Wanderburg's Moving Castles 6ft under. While looking at the content in terms of future upgrading and content long term, it's smaller than I'd want it to be. But since it's early access, I get it; So I look forward to when more content gets added since they got stuff cooking for Q4 2026 and Q1 2027!

It is quite addictive

Fun for a bit, but i don't like how u can only pick 1 skill in each category. I wanna become powerful but it doesn't ever feel like you grow from buying upgrades with the coins you earn from each match. You can switch to whatever new skills you buy in between rounds but not stack them, and often times the new ones you buy aren't better or come with an additional downside. Still would recommend for an hour of messin around here and there. I could see it being addictive for some. But there's lacking in growth imo.
