Vampire Survivors

Tried the game because of the incredible reviews, but felt quite dissapointed. The core gameplay is about dodging enemies and auto-attacks, but you can only move in 8 directions, and the hit registration feels a bit awkward. So overall it feels really clunky and unsatisfying. Sure it's supposed to be "mindless bullet hell", but I guess it's a bit too mindless for me, I wish the player is given a bit more control.

I really wanted to like this game, but I don't. I understand why people like it, but here is why I don't, put simply: I don't find any value in playing it. It burns time while not offering you much to chew on. If you want a game that makes you think deeply, this simply ain't it. If you'd like to play something that feels arcade-y, is repetitive, and simple to understand, this might as well be it- but what's the point? Life is short. There are an infinite amount of games out there. You may as well pick one that challenges you in a meaningful way. This one didn't land for me.

I just heard about this game a month or so ago. I tried the free version on Itch.io. I strongly recommend you try that first, since it is almost the full game, just a bit restricted. This game is both frustrating and fun. It is intentionally limited to no more than 30 minute (or so) levels. [There are achievements/unlocks for lasting 31 minutes.] I'm enjoying it as a game I don't need to focus on the strategy and story on, so I can listen to something else while playing.

This ♥♥♥♥ feels like I'm welding without a helmet when I get a good build going, but I love it. Big ups to Poncle, I wish I had discovered this sooner.
