Magenta Horizon - Neverending Harvest

Sure it may be difficult, but if you have a problem with that that's on you, Magenta Horizon is one of the most fun and thoughtfully designed action games I've played. Its combat encounters are frantic bouts with hordes of enemies with specific behaviors and nuances, and its boss battles are some of my all-time favorites. The game's high difficulty might be daunting, but if you're patient and put aside any pre-existing notions about what is "good"/"fair" difficulty Magenta Horizon shows itself to be something truly special. There's a method to the madness, every combat encounter can be deciphered and strategized around, no matter how frantic or intense they may seem.

[h1] A Golden Egg Covered in Thorns [/h1] I feel like Magenta Horizon could've had closer popularity to other indie greats like Ultrakill if it was handled just a bit differently. The game doesn't do the best job at putting its best foot forward, especially if you aren't willing to meet it on its own terms. However, I [i]promise[/i] that if you do like character action games, this game is a golden egg underneath its sharp outer surface. I keep finding new ways to improve and experiment with Gretel's moveset (I didn't know for about 26 hours how useful altering the trajectory of your ranged weapons was, some even have unique 'modes' that the game doesn't tell you about! I recommend trying inputing up, down and back with your ranged weapons in training mode to see what's possible!). I haven't even really explored the hollow-knight esque charm system that much and I'm curious to see how my playstyle is going to evolve as I improve - maybe I'll opt for some of the riskier charms that offer good rewards for skilled play eventually? Or maybe I'll try a build more focused on melee charged attacks? There's plenty of potential build variety in that regard! I'll update this review again…

Disclaimer.... i haven't beaten the game yet. But i will. This has got to be one of the most underrated games I've ever played. Even at its most frustrating, this game is gorgeous, visually captivating, satisfying, and - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the soundtrack. Seriously have you heard it

Fantastic 2d action game, possibly one of the best ever made, up there with Odin Sphere. A *must* play for fans of character action.

the gamplay is really fun and well made mechanics, art style is unique and the musics are bangers but the game is difficult and need time to practice to be good so its just skill issue
