About AGO BRISTOL 1775: From Warship to Prison Hulk

AGO BRISTOL 1775 is an advanced VR immersive application aiming to establish a high-quality standard in the field of Museum Virtual Reality exhibitions. This groundbreaking project was co-produced by Priam Givord Studio and the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Canada) to explore the potential of virtual reality to exhibit and interpret historical artifacts. This free application will serve as the first-in-the-world multiplayer VR museum visit system with a live guide from the AGO (up to 6 visitors from anywhere around the world).
The VR experience is focused on an original ship model of the Bristol, a warship and later a hulk that held prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars (1793-1815). The model belongs to the Thomson Collection of Ship Models, on exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario, unique in Canada and one of the finest ship model collections in the world.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the immersive historical experience of exploring the ship in VR and praise its technical performance across multiple headsets, but frustration centers on extremely slow movement mechanics that make navigation tedious. The experience works well for those interested in British naval history, though some users encountered crashes that prevented them from playing at all.

AGO BRISTOL 1775: From Warship to Prison Hulk is a Free to play VR museum. It worked on my HTC Vive, Index and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. Museum about a sailing ship. CONS: The movement is Snail slow. Maybe try this museum, if you like British history in the age of sail.
