In the current landscape of gaming, there are many ways a game can justify itself. A game can be good control-wise, or netcoding-wise, and thus feel really good to play. A game can have surprising depth, or interesting mechanics. A variety of tools at your disposal, a funny quirk that makes you laugh, cool looks or even trading cards that make the purchase worth it. All this is to say that Alternis has none of this. Alternis is an early access arena fighter that has five weapons, three maps, and four gamemodes. The five weapons are "None", "Sword of Dawn", "Navy", "Bone Bow" and "Fireball". None starts you with no weapons (there is no melee button). The Sword of Dawn is a sword with a two hit combo and a block button - the two hits do nothing different, and the block button does not block unless the opponent aims at the sword. The Navy is a six shot revolver that has iron sights that do nothing because it is perfectly accurate at all ranges, that threeshots on both bodyshots and headshots. The Bone Bow is a bow and arrow with no bullet drop, and oneshots on a headshot, twoshots on a bodyshot. The fireball is an arcing projectile that arcs so harshly that you cannot hit anything a…

Could this be a good game. Maybe. Not sure. Couldn't figure out how to do anything except run, swing and block, oh and kill myself with being frustrated and hitting all the buttons on my controller and determining that it was K that killed myself. Couldn,t find the correct key or button though to pick up floating gems which I had no idea what they were because there is no explanation. Just thrown in to a PVP game mode with no clear understanding of how to play or what to do. Unless of course your only options are swing, block, and kill yourself and in that case, doesn't really seem like to fun of a game. Maybe I should know the correct combination for inventory or interact out of the total possible key combinations on an entire keyboard. I will not refund, just because the graphics and the swing and block seem like there is something cool here. But I also have high doubts as to someone really released this in this state, and I am usually on most devs sides when it comes to these, but this is just a bit obsurd.
