Renown has a lot of potential. The mix of PvP, resource gathering, and base building gave me plenty to enjoy, and I didn’t have a problem with the combat. I think launching with a smaller selection of weapons and adding more over time would have given players a reason to keep coming back. There were also good ideas, like heading into the middle section of the map to plunder gold and resources. But it felt like the game stopped building on that foundation. The repeated map wipes wore thin quickly. When players spend time gathering materials and building a base, constantly losing that progress makes it harder to stay invested. I would have preferred keeping bases intact and expanding what players could do: more building pieces, larger bases, more space to build, more dungeons, and events that bring people together or give them something to fight over. To me, the developers seemed too focused on making Renown feel like Rust instead of letting it develop its own identity. I think that approach contributed to the player base dropping off. I still believe Renown could make a comeback. More building options, interesting events, and reasons to stay invested in the world would g…
