Amulet drags me through pixel porridge nightmares. Puzzles solve me instead, still I crawl back for another brain bruise.1 found this helpful
Don't play this game until you check the forums and familiarize yourself with what's apparently a game breaking bug late in the game that can prevent you from finishing and have to start over. It's easy to avoid (just make you sure you pick up one particular item first in one particular scene) if you know where it is, and I didn't have a problem with it since I was aware of it ahead of time. It's outrageous this catastrophic bug was never fixed, but setting that aside and assuming you know about it and how to avoid it, I thought this was quite a good HOG. There are definitely some clunky aspects. Clicking on items in HOG scenes is slightly finicky. There are a small number of dubious translations, nothing so bad as to be straight wrong and make the scene uncompleteable but not the clearest. There are no difficulty levels, so you can't choose a setting that makes interactable areas sparkle, and I repeatedly missed zoomable areas on various screens until using the hint button. But overall the gameplay here is strong -- good HOG's, good minigames, solid enough story within the context of always ludicrous HOG stories. Game is bugged at location 6 and can't be recovered if you aren't aware of the correct sequence beforehand. What's worse, the problem is known and should have been fixed a decade ago. That's just not good enough.
i got this on special - it was an ok game - could have thought of more achievements to make it better - thanks to the community for advising about the bug with the genie - i might put it on the list for another play.
Amulet of Dreams is a compact, story-focused adventure that blends classic point-and-click design with light hidden-object and puzzle elements, aiming to deliver a gentle fantasy mystery rather than a demanding cerebral challenge. Developed by Mysterytag and Argali Entertainment, and published by RunServer, the game centers on an intimate, emotionally driven premise: a young girl named Alison has fallen ill under inexplicable circumstances, and her friend Aiden embarks on a journey that drifts between reality and dreamlike realms in search of answers. From the outset, the game positions its narrative stakes as personal and earnest, favoring mood and curiosity over spectacle. The structure follows familiar adventure conventions. Players navigate a series of hand-drawn locations, examine environments, collect items, and solve puzzles that unlock new scenes and advance the story. A built-in map and clear visual indicators help point players toward active areas, making progression accessible even to newcomers to the genre. Hidden-object segments are woven in sparingly, acting as brief interludes rather than the dominant mechanic, while logic puzzles tend to be straightforward and cont…
The story is a bit meh, but the beautiful graphics and well-designed challenges were enough to keep me hooked until the end. Cons: even though the map marks areas with pending actions, be careful — it shows them in general, not necessarily for your current stage of progress. You might end up running back and forth to places where you can’t actually do anything with the items you have at that moment. A solid 6/10 in the genre.
