About Annie Amber

ANNIE AMBER – A LIFE CAPTURED AS A VR PUZZLE GAME

WHEN VIRTUAL REALITY LETS YOU FEEL A (VIRTUAL) REAL LIFE
Annie Amber is a VR puzzle game that leads you on an intense and dreamy journey through the life of a person condensed in a surreal and poetic experience. With innovative controls, AA makes you explore this strange and beautiful scenery that is life itself while using your wit to make your way through different memories.

LIFE IS POETRY, SO IS ANNIE AMBER
But the life of Annie Amber isn’t told you in a plain way. Memories are symbolic, fragmented and complex, so the journey will be full of subtle beauty and poetry. Through sad and powerful piano tracks, youwill solve puzzles that will slowly unlock Annie Amber’s memories. The result is a game as minimalistic as intense: overwhelmed by huge celestial bodies, we will get to know and understand Annie Amber (fictional character) as if she were a close friend of us.

USE YOUR MOTION CONTROLLERS!
Annie Amber is meant to be player with motion controllers. Use them to travel and interact with the environment and the puzzle elements. On the other hand, if you don't have motion controllers you can still play the game activating the mode without motion controllers. This innovative system matches the minimalistic and subtle approach of the whole game, while enhancing the immersion of the player. With no external controllers at all (aside from your hands or your head), the player will be a silent explorer while also being able of experiencing VR at its fullest.

WELCOME TO VIRTUAL REALITY
The universality of its narrative and the accessibility of its innovative controlling system make Annie Amber not only a product for all kinds of audience, but also an excellent introduction to virtual reality and videogames. A whole new world of possibilities is about to emerge from this technology, and Annie Amber is a beautiful and intuitive way of embracing it for the first time while also being good enough for VR pros.

This was one of my favorite experiences on GearVR and I was excited to get to play again. Some reviewers don't seem to get what this is, which I interpret as basically a tribute to a specific person's life. It's like you get to walk through their memories and the different stages of their life- childhood, teenage/college years, traveling the world, and eventually....well I won't spoil it. From that perspective, it's a moving work of art/life, and also extremely immersive. The float locomotion perfectly fits the atmosphere of the experience. My one complaint is on the Quest 2 at least, it does not seem to save my progress at ALL. I seem to remember on GearVR that I could select any starting point once I advanced a certain amount in the game. But it seems I'll be starting from zero forever? Maybe I just need to finish the game again to unlock, but if not, that would be sad as certain life stages are wonderful standalone experiences and I'd like to be able to do them in any order

Annie Amber, developed by Pantumaca Barcelona and CarlosGameDev and published by Talking About Media, is a virtual reality experience that leans heavily into abstraction and emotion, presenting itself less as a conventional game and more as an interactive reflection on memory and identity. It places players inside a series of symbolic environments that represent fragments of a life, inviting them to move through these spaces and piece together meaning without relying on explicit storytelling. From the beginning, it establishes a contemplative tone, signaling that its primary goal is to evoke feeling rather than challenge or mastery. The experience unfolds through a sequence of dreamlike scenes, each representing different stages or emotional states connected to the titular character. Progression is achieved by interacting with objects, triggering environmental changes, and solving light, intuitive puzzles that guide you forward. These interactions are deliberately simple, functioning more as a way to maintain engagement than as a test of skill. The game rarely asks the player to think in a traditional puzzle-solving sense; instead, it encourages observation and interpretation, all…

The controls feel like trudging through mud, glitches pop up like unwanted ads, the story reads like a half baked script, yet the weird charm makes you grin.

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…
