[i](Oh no, how sPoOky!...)[/i] Generally I do enjoy these simulated hacking games where you're given just enough details to follow the breadcrumb trail, much like the hacking minigame in Enter the Matrix. However here in archimedes, you are forced to jam on random keys on your keyboard to progress with chat dialogue to the only character to converse with. It's tedious & the game doesn't account for you as the player for wanting to go off on your own. Some menus in this OS have no response until you palmsmack your keys frequently enough for the story to allow it. There's also no way to see previous chat history so good luck remembering anything if you step away for too long. Some ARG elements are thrown in but links have been broken in the past so use the Steam Guides as a workaround. Unfortunately I did not find archimedes to be that enjoyable. [h1]The birth of a new genre[/h1] Archimedes instills a sense of something that seems to be missing in modern software. Or at least, it's a lot harder to find, that sense of discovery. Not knowing where your poking around is going to lead you. This is the birth of a new genre. I can see so much creative potential for this form of exploration narrative. Where the modern internet would have us be a passive consumer, Archimedes encourages you to be a seeker.

I enjoy games like this where its haunted operating systems and whatnot games like kinito or 98xx. the thing is that this game is barely a horror game. this game has at most 3 scares and thats not even getting to the extremely underwhelming plot. a computer virus that makes you kill yourself just isnt interesting. some of the story beats seem like they were gonna be cool but then its always just reading and reading and reading. not to mention the autopsy photo. its never able to grip the player cause it never seems to try and the abysmal pacing dosent help. i spent most of the game waiting for the narrator to respond in the chatbox that or trying to figure out the very confusing puzzles involving links (that you cant copy. twice) or trying to listen to audio files i had to download that are nearly completely un-intelligible to what has got to be the worst puzzle ive seen in a game ever. the longitude latitude puzzle. you have to go to google maps and get the position of ONE EXACT POINT. you will not want a walk through you will NEED ONE. if you dont work with the fbi and know how to crack the zodi…
