Aye, right. Full disclosure, I am trans. To some degree I get what Ascension was going for. It is certainly not inconspicuous when it comes to its general theming. I just don't really get what everything else was. I don't get the Zone. I don't get the red storms. I don't get what significance silver has. I don't get what psychosilver is. In particular, I don't get what all of this has to do in communicating the presented themes. The story becomes a very, very windy road that ends up in a place that you more or less kind of expected it to go, which is dissatisfying. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the writer for this game writes a lot of poetry. Many lines have very creative and beautiful ways of communicating the story. This writing style doesn't really lend itself to writing prose though, especially in a visual novel where lines arrive one at a time, so if one stands out it REALLY stands out. I was instantly sucked out of the world of the novel after lines like "The heady swell of endogenous opiate" and "It still had all its Pathos, before the Hierarchy had learned how to ♥♥♥♥ it" reminded me that I'm reading words, with these meaning absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing to me.
