This game is brutal, and frankly I'm not good enough at it to get very far. It's difficult in a fun way though. Each new area brings a really unique challenge and way of thinking about the game and beating the area gives you a reward that feels earned and helpful as a result5 found this helpful
It's a bit fun, but it's freakin' frustrating. I've been playing games like this since they were cool, which was sometime during the early 90s. This one: Impossible to beat. Too few powerups, too little control. The creeps are fun, the variety of different mechanics is astonishing, but it just doesn't add up to a progession that is possible. Don't get me wrong: I'm the first to doubt my abilities. But there's a delay between shots you can fire. So even if each shot would hit the target (which again due to the always the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ map layouts is not possible), it would just not be enough to defeat the quick moving line of enemies. If you like Zuma clones -- this one is decent. If you like achievable achievements -- this game isn't for you.4 found this helpful
For a somewhat gay man, I'm terrible with these balls.2 found this helpful
At the beginning I thought this game would be doo doo. I'm glad i decided not to go for the three star on every level before trying to just beat all of them in the first place. All the mechanics build upon each other. The health mechanic, at first, I thought was stupid and annoying. After a while of seeing how the colors and effects changed the interactions of the line as an entire unit, I kind of loved it. If you are expecting a super fast click the same color and get combos as fast you can game like Luxor or Zuma, you will not enjoy this at first. It is not the same kind of game.
Ballspell is a tightly focused, arcade-style puzzle game that takes inspiration from classic orb-shooting formulas and reshapes them with Sokpop Collective’s signature creativity and restraint. Rather than overwhelming players with systems or narrative exposition, the game commits to a single, well-defined idea and explores it thoroughly through clever enemy design, spell-based twists, and compact progression. The result is a game that feels immediately familiar yet consistently surprising, especially for players who enjoy fast-thinking puzzle action driven by timing and spatial awareness. At its core, Ballspell revolves around firing colored magical orbs at advancing chains of enemies, matching colors to clear them before they reach a critical endpoint. This foundation is instantly readable, making the game easy to pick up even for players with no prior experience in the genre. What elevates the experience is how quickly Ballspell begins to disrupt expectations. Enemies are not passive targets; many possess unique traits that affect movement, positioning, or how they interact with your shots. Some deflect projectiles, others rearrange themselves, and certain foes shift colors mid…
simple, relaxing and a few times quiet challenging
