About Block'hood VR
Based on the award winning Block'hood, this VR version of Block'hood invites you to an immersive city building experience!
Block’hood VR is a neighborhood-building simulator that celebrates the diversity and experimentation of cities and the unique ecosystems within them. Budding city planners will have access to 200+ building blocks to arrange and combine and to create unique neighborhoods and discover the implications of their designs. The game will embark on a story of ecology and understanding as additional resources are always needed to unlock new blocks, configurations, and combinations to create more prosperous neighborhoods. Throughout the design process, players will need to avoid the decay of their city blocks by making sure each unit doesn’t run out of resources and become a strain on the complimentary units around them.

Envision Your Neighborhood: Consider what Blocks are necessary for your neighborhood to thrive. There are no boundaries of what you can create with an expanding library of 200+ blocks.
Generate Resources: Each Block you create has inputs and outputs and by understanding how each block is dependent on other blocks, you can create a productive network. Optimize your production and generate abundant resources for the dozens of intricate symbiotic relationships in your neighborhood

Avoid Decay: If blocks don't receive the inputs they need, they will decay over time and slowly become abandoned or destroyed. Once a block is abandoned or destroyed, you will have to remove it and avoid it from making other blocks decay further. Be careful as seeking an utopian neighborhood carelessly, can lead to dystopia.

Unique Modes: Neighborhood designers can enjoy the new Story Mode, Sandbox Mode, and Challenge Mode with modes for unique and engaging experience for players of all types.

Avoid this game. On Index, the game only intermittently registers controller input, making basic tasks completely impossible. I spent 10 minutes trying to inspect a block with a pig on it while the game ignored me. Just enough time to delete this piece of garbage from my hard drive.19 found this helpful
Extremely finicky VR controls and a UI not really suited for that purpose, I have to vote this one down. The flat-screen variant of this game is probably fine so go check it out but I wouldn't get the VR version unless you want to deal with frustration. I'm hoping someone can come with a good take on city-building VR though, I definitely think it's possible and this game comes within range of it being possible, but it just needs more work.9 found this helpful
This is just horrible. Couldn't even get through the tutorial. You place an elevator shaft, then it messes up and places a second elevator shaft right next to it. No problem, next step is to delete anyway. Tried to delete, but the game doesn't let me. Restart the tutorial, carefully placing only one shaft, now I can delete the one block I placed. A few steps further the tutorial ignores my zoom/pan/rotation attempts. Devolver put their name on this? Imagine how at least two people must have playtested this and thought: "Well, this is good enough, can't see any problems here!" And then went to lunch, apparently.7 found this helpful
As much as I like the game in 2D, the 3D port is was near unplayable for me. I'm currently working with the Oculus Rift S, and the controls seemed mapped to something completely different. I couldn't even place the first block in the Tutorial, so that's a big no from me, my dude4 found this helpful
Wonderful aesthetic and interesting concept, but unfortunately I have been entirely unable to enjoy it due to incomprehensible and unusable controls. Really wish the controls or even the explanation on how to use the controls made sense, I could not even get through the tutorial before backing out and uninstalling.4 found this helpful
Block'hood VR is an ambitious virtual-reality reinterpretation of the original ecological city-building concept, aiming to immerse players directly inside a living, interdependent urban system. Developed by Plethora-Project in collaboration with General Arcade and published by Devolver Digital, the VR edition seeks to transform a cerebral, systems-driven simulation into a tactile, hands-on experience. Rather than focusing on expansion or conquest, the game centers on sustainability, balance, and the fragile relationships between structures, resources, and inhabitants. At its core, Block'hood VR retains the original game’s defining philosophy: every building exists within an ecosystem of inputs and outputs. Housing, farms, power generators, waste processors, and cultural spaces all consume and produce resources, and failing to maintain these relationships leads to decay that can ripple through an entire neighborhood. The challenge lies not in maximizing profit or population, but in maintaining equilibrium. In VR, this concept is presented as a floating, modular neighborhood that players can rotate, inspect, and build upon from every angle, reinforcing the idea that the city is a de…1 found this helpful
