About Block'hood
✦ AI summary
Build thriving neighborhoods by combining 200+ blocks with interconnected resource systems where every building must feed others or risk decay. Balance ecology and experimentation across Story, Sandbox, and Challenge modes to create prosperous urban ecosystems or watch them crumble into dystopia.
Block’hood is a neighborhood-building simulator that celebrates the diversity and experimentation of cities and the unique ecosystems within them. Budding city planners will have access to 200+ building blocks to arrange and combine and to create unique neighborhoods and discover the implications of their designs. The game will embark on a story of ecology and understanding as additional resources are always needed to unlock new blocks, configurations, and combinations to create more prosperous neighborhoods. Throughout the design process, players will need to avoid the decay of their city blocks by making sure each unit doesn’t run out of resources and become a strain on the complimentary units around them.
Envision Your Neighborhood: Consider what Blocks are necessary for your neighborhood to thrive. There are no boundaries of what you can create with an expanding library of 200+ blocks.
Generate Resources: Each Block you create has inputs and outputs and by understanding how each block is dependent on other blocks, you can create a productive network. Optimize your production and generate abundant resources for the dozens of intricate symbiotic relationships in your neighborhood
Avoid Decay: If blocks don't receive the inputs they need, they will decay over time and slowly become abandoned or destroyed. Once a block is abandoned or destroyed, you will have to remove it and avoid it from making other blocks decay further. Be careful as seeking an utopian neighborhood carelessly, can lead to dystopia.
Unique Modes: Neighborhood designers can enjoy the new Story Mode, Sandbox Mode, and Challenge Mode with modes for unique and engaging experience for players of all types.

Oh, my god. I have never played a game with such severe oversight. And it hasn't been updated for seven years. In one of the "story missions" there is a decayed block hidden DEEP within the central pillar that can not be demolished, and the goal requires you to revive EVERY SINGLE BLOCK on the map. How the f$%k am I supposed to reach to that singular block if you don't let me demolish the external ones?? Also, you can't close building inventory. Because of that, you'll always have something attached to your mouse cursor. I have never, and I mean NEVER, played any other city builder with such sloppy UI design - I'm NOT saying it LOOKS BAD, however. Gotta be honest here, this game has some cool concepts and it surely looks good in its own way. But the execution was... let's just say not ideal. Good thing I got it during the last sale so it didn't cost much. Keep your hands off this game, unless you're on a severe "city builder withdrawal."3 found this helpful
Could not save game in story mode requiring complete restart of game. As others, game feels unfinished and unpolished.1 found this helpful
Finished just enough to enjoy for 10 hours. Worth it at discount, even 10 becks1 found this helpful
I liked this a lot - the gameplay and visual design are brilliant. It genuinely feels creative and innovative, and chimes with my personal values around the environment. However, it's fair to say it feels unfinished in places and like it's full potential might not have been reached. I would still recommend it though.
I'll start by saying that I am not a fan of this type of games. City-builders are not for me, I don't like playing them even though the concept is interesting. But Block-hood managed to get and keep my attention. It is visually pleasing, and the sound desing is gorgeous as well. It's pretty easy to learn, and you can easily keep track of everything. You can ignore more advanced technologies if you want to make a friendly and easy-to-maintain neighborhood, or you could go a lot further with buildings that require a lot of thinking and preparation. The game is not without its flaws, for instance there are animals and people but they're useless since there are no consequences to ignoring their preferences. To me it's a good thing since I prefer more chill / easy games but if you're a more experienced player of this genre I'd highly recommend reading reviews left by people who know a lot better than me what they're talking about. But as a very casual player, this game is a gem, and extremely satisfying to play.
very interesting blocky game, kinda sad they dont update this anymore
