About Boiling Steel
The story for “Boiling Steel” was written by one of the authors of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. According to the plot you are one of many who set off in search of a better life in the distant bastion of scientific progress. Your goal is a colony planet, free from bureaucratic, religious and other radical restrictions. It is a high-tech paradise. But here, something went wrong…
Reach the final to know what’s happened.
The action of the game takes place on a planet-colony in biomes, different in climatic and biological features and locations, unique in their content. More than 40 combat missions, each of which unfolds on a unique map - from the cloud-city complexes and sandy mining platforms to the permafrost zone and science camps.
11 different tools with the original mechanic of two-handed grip allow the player to choose their own playing style. The stripping cutter (like a lightsaber sword) and the fisticuffs are also in your arsenal.
The weapon upgrade system automatically improves a favorite and frequently used tool, gradually turning it into a hellish machine.
A number of additional abilities increase your combat effectiveness. Among those:- clone
- superspeed
- defense matrix
- electromagnetic wave
- plasma stripping system
Was good, by todays standard, no
I mean, sure when there was little choice I can see this game was probably good, but 3-4 years on, its flaws are most definitely obvious, it's mechanics were not a product of "making the game difficult" they are a mere product of terrible coding, programming, and story telling. Just Under two hours is how long it has taken me to hate nearly every facet of this game. For example it is not a matter of difficulty, to spawn multiple enemies of varying types, melee and long range at the same time, it is poor thinking, these are droids, no fear is programmed (and rightly so) so you are just charged, with no real way to both defend and attack at the same time. No way to recover health? why? you are a droid in a droid facility, it defies logic and such breaks the illusion. Certain enemies forever recovering health, is just irritating, you can't, why can they? Enemies can run, you can not. fine i guess but still so stupid. it is old, it is irritating, it probably was enjoyable when there was only 20 games to choose from. now, it should be resigned to the vaults and be considered a shoulder in which better games have stood on.2 found this helpful
For me the game is always crashing at the start of the second level. Sadly Steam does not refund the game.2 found this helpful
I would recommend buying this game, I've enjoyed this till I finished it in about 20 hours . This was one of the first games I bought when I started playing with VR on a Meta Quest 2 earlier this year. I got myself a load of (mostly cheap) games to try and this one stood out. I was amazed by the looks, feels, graphics and how well everything works. I did find the game to be pretty hard at first. Maybe this was because I was completely new to VR or because it just took some time to get the hang of it. There is this unusual but original gun grabbing and reloading system that actually works pretty well. As soon as you start working through the levels and your weapons become better and new weapons become available you just want to keep playing. The story is interesting and a bit vague which makes you want to know more. I actually would like play a sequel to this.1 found this helpful
Yes, but soft recommendation. I see the potential here - beautiful vistas, excellent model detail (robot hands in particular are very well modeled) but there are some serious issues. Lots of what appears to be AI art assets without direction - there's a decal that belongs on a restaurant supply box in your main base for example. I'm not against AI, I'm against AI making devs less attentive - and this is what it feels like. Last I'll say is more personal - that cowboy is insufferable. I turned him off near instantly when he barked 3 times to "get back to the portal" in less than 15s.....while I was walking towards the portal. I think they're going for the "drill sergeant" tough leader stereotype, but his willingness to let his ex die to robots just came off distasteful - especially in what I believe is an AI synthesized voice. Again - cool game, fully playable which is more than some games in this bundle(LOL at Star Shelter if you feel like getting trapped in an escape pod on Index). I'll def. be playing through, but not a priority sadly.
game crashing at the start and brakes my nerves
Has a decent story with good player controls, and an interesting concept.
