[th] Review by Sven Evil - Steam's largest local 4-player curator! See 100s of more local 4-player reviews at my curator page! [/th]
There are nearly 100 couch platform brawlers reviewed by my curator, and an additional 130 arena brawlers. All of these games come with very similar core game mechanics: 4 go in, one comes out. Beat/slash/hack/shoot the other players before they do the same to you. Smash Bros. on the Nintendo showed everyone how this works. Brief Battles uses the same motivation: Kill your friends before they kill you. Or before you kill yourself accidentally, the surroundings are sometimes rather accident-prone. You can do this by jumping on them with your backside, or by using one of the superpowers granted to you by one of the randomly spawning briefs. The game plays fast, the controls are responsive, but the only important thing is: The game is extreme fun with friends. Climbing a wall is very easy, you can even hang on top without falling down. It is easy to jump in for newbies, the rounds are not too long - the ideal couch party game. We laughed a lot when p…24 found this helpful
This game is pretty much Towerfall 2.0, with Underpants AND I LOVE IT. The battle and KO modes are great, though the bare buns mode is the most chaotic fun. There are A HEAP of multiplayer maps from what I've seen so far. Co-op content is neat, but seems short compared to Towerfall's campaign-like levels. There is a mountain of solo stuff though, if you want to get into unlocking Chonka-Laylee and all that. Hopefully we'll see some updates with more co-op content soon.3 found this helpful
For the price it was a lot of fun. I bought it before I had a dedicated graphic card for me to play with my girlfriend and even if she had just played mario SNES versions she managed to play and have fun. It is good to spend some time and has the advantage of being playable with friends using the same computer. I would buy it on a sale.1 found this helpful
I was a kickstarter backer for this title. Great couch death match gameplay. Reminds of an old MS-DOS game called Bump'n Jump with cute bunnies. This gameplay is classic and captured well in this title. Played it a lot during the development days. Only just played the finished product. Really like the challenges and the 1 or 2 player modes. But you know what is the bread and BUTTer of this game is right? The VS / Battle mode This is a game which can be enjoyed by all walks of life and all skill levels. Literally fun for the whole family. Great for a quick 'bout too.1 found this helpful
Great game, I really have fun playing it with friends, however the lack of linux support, even with proton is at least deceiving for a small game with no DRM using unreal engine. In conclusion : If you are using windows, go buy it, it's great. If not, then check protondb for the state of this game on linux before buying.
