If the dystopian retro sci-fi setting and pixelated art style speak to you, this 2.5D platformer brawler is worth a look. The pacing isn't perfect, and there can be long sections of walking through rooms or crawling through vents where not much is happening. The combat worked for me though, and I wish that they had leaned into it more with a wider variety of enemies and more kill rooms. The slower sections make cinematic set pieces pop all the more though, and there are quite a few of them here.

Am around 3/4s of the way through. I am loving ever second. Love the art style, story, tight controls, simple but fun mechanics. Games like this remind me why I love games.

Visual, music, the atmosphere are top-notch. One of the best indie games I have played in recent times. You may feel the pace is slow at times but think of this as an interactive novel which you get to experience a unique story with actions. Action/combat are fine, the graduate unlock of new abilities make you feel like progression. The length is about right, the story is good, and I really loved the music. Hope there is more coming from this development team in the future. Please keep up the great work!

Purchased for 15,99 euros. This might be style over substance, but the style is very stylish. The pixel art with modern effects, the animations, the presentation and the shots; it's all very slick and cinematic. The rest is serviceable; won't blow you away, won't make your toes curl. The combat mechanics are ok, although I do feel it invites mashing the light attack and dodge buttons. You have to force yourself to use the various counters, which can lead to a nice flow, combining different counters and using finishers. But when it doesn't flow, the movement can feel sluggish and you're very tempted to just resort to mashing. Also, don't expect a ton of variety in enemy design or combat options. The focus isn't the combat. It's a means to an end: change the intensity, break up the pace, etc. As for the story, the world building might be more interesting than the actual story, which is pretty cliché and some of the lines can be a bit cheesy. The premise is decent, but I feel there are some missed opportunities for the main character to comment or reflect on the collectibles he finds, especially when they refer to him directly. All in all, it looks amazing, it plays alr…

TL;DR: great story, unforgettable style, solid combat. Should have been 2-3 hours shorter instead of including so much tedious platforming and puzzles. The conclusion is worth sticking it out for, though. GOOD STUFF: + Style: A striking blend of pixel art, low-poly environments and modern lighting effects that just happens to match the mix-and-match retro-futurism of the setting. V + Story: I was not expecting this going in, even from the demo, but this is one of my favorite sci-fi stories in recent memory, mostly for the depiction of its dystopia's "survivors" that manages to be inspiring without shying away from the difficulties of being decent in an oppressive world. The protagonist is great too, an AI that discovers its own humanity. + Combat: It wears its Batman Arkham inspiration on its sleeve and is a (mostly) successful translation of its mechanics to 2D. You start with basic attacks, counters and dodges, and you get new tools as you go, like an axe for tearing through armor, a shockwave, and even a way to repel bullets. What really defines the combat, though, is your gun. For contrived game balance reasons, you can only get a shot after so many normal attacks "charge…
