✦ AI summary

Players praise the Candice series for its charming storytelling, memorable characters, and emotional impact despite rough presentation, with the games praised for their unique charm and ability to stay engaging across different genres. Common complaints focus on technical issues like breakable UI elements, difficulty comparing items, jarring victory music, and the need to play previous entries to understand the narrative, with some feeling the quality has declined slightly from the first game.

Candice 1 was great, but it's been a sharp decline since then.

So I've fallen in love with Candice over the last two games. Not in that way, I'm not into that. But for two games there has been not just a labor of love but somehow, despite all the rough edges, a world created where I truly want to know what happens next. Characters I love and treasure. An artist behind it where I can see how much thought and how much love was put into it and it's contagious. It's something where I keep trying to get others into it and man, some people will never go so far as to look past the "cursed" first impression, just looking at screenshots, to see the brilliance behind it. So we're at Cand3ce. Three games, three genres. And you know what? It works as an RPG. Modulo the breakable pieces (maybe Cand3ce Director's Cut can fix this) it's great. You have to put thought into what abilities you're using instead of just leveling through and the characters each have specific mechanics and strategies that are required to bring them to their maximum potential. It's not nearly as mindless as most RPGs. Well, I mean, unless you find the broken parts, but that's not the point, and sometimes the broken parts do get kludged out of being broken. And yes, the end isn't sat…

I want to say, I’ve been following the development of this game series for a long time now and I absolutely love each one of these games. They’re silly, have amazing story telling, and always keeps me invested in the next thing going on. These games, no joke, have gotten me through some of the hardest points in my life and never fail to put a smile on my face. For those who are interested in silly games with decent combat (only issue I have is you can’t see the weaknesses mid combat in this one, only if you scanalyze them), this is the game for you. I know this was the third one, but I would absolutely love a fourth game or continuation in the DeBébéverse. Can’t have a game without our top b*tch the magical wiatch Candice though, that’d be a sin.

So after having spent a few hours in game I have a few thoughts. The Candice series is honestly one of the best bizarre game series I have ever played. Not very many games like these around. If you haven't played the first two games you will have no idea what is going on in this one so you really need to play those ones. The music in this lives up to the Candice Debebe name. Unfortunately its not as good as the first games music but it is still good. There is some UI problems. Its really hard to compare items to see which is better for which situation. The battle victory music is jarring and needs changed. You have this good battle music then it changes to this generic trumpet music. Its needs to be like a dirty guitar riff or something. The story so far is great! I always love more Candice lore. I'm excited to see what happens next. But I can't help but grind to make my Candice team super powerful. That is the most fun for me. Searching the map for items and things of that nature is also fun. Save points are so abundant the dev should have made it to where you could save anytime because you basically already can. I get what they were going for making it feel like a classic RP…
