About Cloud House - Virtual Arts Space
In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, when performing arts spaces were forced shut, a team of creative and tech collaborators began a mammoth task to document Centre 42's beloved blue house as its own virtual world. Through the process of photogrammetry, we captured a digital rendering of the building. The desire stemmed from preserving memories, but it led to the curiosity in exploring and expanding opportunities to create theatre and build community beyond physical spaces.
The Cloud House journey brings the player to a futuristic rendering of Centre 42. It is an invitation to explore its new imagining within a virtual world. You will encounter our very first experience titled 'Love Letters to 42', a single-player filmic story shot in 2020 that captures the history of pre-pandemic C42 at 42 Waterloo Street.
In Cloud House, audiences can encounter arts performances, experiences, workshops and interact with artists and other audiences. It is also an invitation and opportunity for digital artists, theatre-makers to imagine their works to be presented in this space. The content, programmes, interactivity functions are being imagined and built as ‘modules’ and updates along the way after this initial launch. The digital possibilities are endless!

Cloud House - Virtual Arts Space is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, Cloud House - Virtual Arts Space is a software application that shows a basic, badly done 3D rendition of a building the "developers" behind this software liked. This is another attempt by art school dropouts to shove their failed art at Steam gamers by trying to mislead people into thinking their failed art project is a game. This is not making art better, it's just making gaming worse for everyone. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and the…3 found this helpful

I was the only one in a landscape rendered Lovecraftian. I walked along as the shrill screams of cats serenaded me and the harsh, glowing lights induced the sensation of a wide drill going into my temples. A thunderous pain juxtapositioned with inane dancing and blinding lights. What have we wrought because of our greed and inability to not be entertained constantly? We could not allow ourselves to see thus we allowed ourselves to be destroyed by ineffectual attempts to entertain those already lost to time- husks of what was. You must play this if only to save yourself from this future.1 found this helpful
