About ENDLESS BECOMING - APARTMENT
In the moment we no longer choose “housing” as a place to live
Whether this event is reminiscent of the future or a long time ago
is in my obscure thought, or in a hidden corner of my memory
So, I hope you don’t mind it, because it doesn’t make much sense
Our home in this continuum of moments can be a department store
an art gallery or the bottom of a public swimming pool
Is that really a bed that you are looking down on, the place you are lying on?
Is that where you are watching you?
Whose house are you walking around?
Whose traces are we looking at, and what acts?
What does “who” mean?
What is left are afterimages of lives of the multitude
Once a space endures a time, it cannot choose the exterior of the inhabitants
It cannot intervene with its ethics, its morals
There is only one for the myriad
A life in a glass house
in the immediate future or far in the past
That desire has not been met with full reality
and the barricades have been dismantled (as you know)
A dream in daylight (Willful)
and a dream in the night (Fantastical)
Can you separate one from another?
Can you also be sure that you own it alone?
That this house should be our home
That sought-out intoxication for centuries
Are you certain
that you are not caught in the enchantment ab aeternitate?
- Small Exit

ENDLESS BECOMING - APARTMENT is a virtual art installation. Utilizing Virtual Reality or First Person modes, users are encouraged to explore at their own pace. Taking cues from first person shooters, walking simulators and contemporary installation art, users will experience an unfolding landscape of architecture, spatialized sound and digital phenomena. It also features multiplayer capabilities, so you can share the experience with companions. It is the first chapter in a series of forthcoming projects exploring the possibilities of existence in virtual space.

ENDLESS BECOMING - APARTMENT is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, ENDLESS BECOMING - APARTMENT is a software application that presents a barely interactive "art experience". We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game dec…2 found this helpful
I was able to pick up the main loop of activating switches, got to experience the weird spatial changes which was changing the environment I was exploring, then soft-locking myself when I jumped from a ledge to a watery area that had no exit. Oh well. Nice architecture though.1 found this helpful
Really cool black and white, with a backrooms feel, or lots of areas to explore that dont quite fit right. Just keep exploring and find more interesting rooms
Endless Becoming Apartment is a "Digital Art Exhibit" and liminal space simulator in a similar vein to those inspired by Kane Pixels "Backrooms" lore. Except there are no backrooms here....this is something totally different. It's a Black and White, first person, at-your-own-pace exploratory visit, starting on the 10th floor, of the Apartment. As you find various, well, things, it shows why this is called "Endless Becoming" - because the more you explore, the more you find, the more you find, the more there is to explore. Hence, Endless Becoming Apartment. A big part of this game is about "vibes", and this game has a lot of vibes. It's very much the kind of place you'd see....say....in the late 80's or early 1990's - a bizzare crossover of retro-40's style, and high tech minimalism, with palm trees and abstract art exhibits that would give someone like Andy Warhol the jollies. You might like it, you might not. People like me like things like this, because they are relaxing little "time wasters" top enjoy, and escape into. Other people looking for a deep plot or a complex storyline, or epic battles and complicated puzzles for the sake of complication need-not-apply. T…
