About Consumption Line

Welcome to your first day at the KindBroth® soup factory!

Consumption Line is a short, 100% free, experimental indie game about food systems, industrial production, deceptive advertising, and the erosion of meaning in a world obsessed with efficiency. You play as a factory worker operating two machines: one for broth, one for noodles. Your job is simple: meet your daily quota, follow the recipe, don't ask questions. At first, it feels almost cozy. But as days pass, ingredients change. Machines get faster. Expectations rise. And something about the soup... feels slightly off.

Features

 • Short and focused. Playable in one sitting (approx. 30 minutes).
 • Assembly-line gameplay that evolves each day.
 • No game over states, no collectibles, no grind. Just play and think.
 • Unlimited soup!

What is this game exactly?

This is not a traditional game. There are no skill trees, boss fights, or deep systems. It's a tightly scoped, 30-minute experience meant to invite reflection. Over the course of five in-game days, your routine remains the same: leave your flat, take the subway, arrive at the production line, hit your quota, go home... Yet there are some changes, some funny and some bleak, that reveal issues in the world around you.

Fully free!

Consumption Line is 100% free and also ad-free. It was created as a personal, 'artsy' project to explore our relationship with ultra-processed foods, misleading marketing, and the ruthlessness of capitalism.
Summary
Short free satirical commentary to the general trend of company culture that focus on metrics and profit. Pros + Important messaging + Fun & challenging Cons - Too short
Overview
Consumption Line is a short satirical commentary on the general trend that continues to happen around the world, how workers and consumers are effected by the decisions made by the management of companies that are shortsighted focusing only on profits and metrics. Gameplay is very simple as you only need to properly drag and drop ingredients into the proper machines in a timely manner to allow them enough time to work, the assembly line will do the rest to hit your expected daily quota. This is essentially the basic gameplay loop that ramps in difficulty as you go along. Achievements are mostly easy but there are some that require a little more effort and thought to get and a few secret ones. It was entertaining and the message was nicely canned.

The game is pretty simple and only exists to convey a handful of messages, but it does that very well. Every little detail feels very intentional. The gameplay is just dull enough to make you feel the right emotions. I like how it's balanced too, if you try and "cheat" the game the quotas force you into the right playstyle. Not a whole lot else to say, the game accomplishes what it's meant to do incredibly well.

you were hired as like a factory worker for a new chicken soup company, and you had to put the ingredients into the machines to make your soups and meet your quota, and as the days went on, the price per can went down, and you used faker and faker and more processed ingredients even to just flavoring to replace the greens. The society is getting worse, with a newspaper by your doorstep every morning saying how obesity and diet problems are getting worse, alongside a letter from the factory every day telling you you’re doing such a great job and stuff. The state of the community is reflected by your apartment too, with water stain getting worse on your wall and your hallway plant dying. I found out you can click it to water it, and there’s an achievement which is hidden which is nurse it back to life, and I’m disappointed I discovered it one day too early I guess because I could’ve got that achievement without looking at it. It was meant to be a reflective game instead of one you grind, and it did its job very well. Made me think about the enshitification of so many things around me. This was a part of my journal entry for the day, and I thought this would be good for a review lol

The only unrealistic thing in this game is that soup actually gets cheaper 😭
