Consumption Line

Consumption Line is a really strange little game, but that is also what made it stand out to me. The whole experience is built around a simple idea of moving through a world where everything seems connected to consumption and destruction. I was not completely sure what to expect when I started, but I liked the unusual atmosphere and the way the game slowly reveals what it is trying to say instead of explaining everything immediately. The gameplay is fairly simple, with the main focus being on moving through the environment and interacting with what is around me. There is not a huge amount of complicated systems to learn, which works well because the game seems more interested in creating a particular feeling than throwing lots of mechanics at me. I enjoyed looking around and figuring out what I was supposed to do without having every objective clearly spelled out. What I liked most was the atmosphere. Consumption Line has a somewhat unsettling feeling that makes ordinary things seem more unusual than they should be. A beautiful little game that should have a small price attached to it!

Thought provoking and definitely an experience. Short and sweet story that shows and tells a deeper story without bogging itself down with too much exposition. Worth downloading just for the message alone. [spoiler] I tried trying to beat the later levels using the legacy ingredients but eventually I was forced to compromise. [/spoiler]

Very interesting game that really makes you think. I love it and would definitely pay for a longer version.

The game is pretty simple and only exists to convey a handful of messages, but it does that very well. Every little detail feels very intentional. The gameplay is just dull enough to make you feel the right emotions. I like how it's balanced too, if you try and "cheat" the game the quotas force you into the right playstyle. Not a whole lot else to say, the game accomplishes what it's meant to do incredibly well.
