Cooking Time!

Cooking Time! is a really weird combination of cooking and fighting, but I actually found the idea pretty fun. Instead of preparing food for customers, I am collecting ingredients, cooking them and then throwing the finished dishes at my opponents. It sounds ridiculous, and that is exactly why I enjoyed it. The game does not take the cooking theme seriously at all, turning the kitchen into a chaotic little battle arena. The main mechanic is collecting cookware and installing it into my kitchen before I can start making food. Ingredients fall from the top of the screen, so I have to grab what I need and get it back to my kitchen. I liked that there is a little bit of preparation involved before the fighting really gets going. I cannot simply attack whenever I want because I need to think about what ingredients and cooking equipment I should be using. The ingredients are what make the combat interesting. Different foods give the dishes different abilities, so what I cook can change how I approach a fight. Chilli can cause fire damage, tomatoes can heal the player they hit and mushrooms can increase strength. I liked experimenting with different combinations because the cooking syst…
