CROSS X CARROT is as much an advertisement as it is a serious attempt at making a game, and it's not particularly good at either of those things. At face value this is a mobile app-tier game that's been dumped on Steam. It's a simple 2D retro pixel local multiplayer arena platform brawler, art style ripped almost directly from Super Mario Bros but with 2D retro rabbits (at least I think that's what they're supposed to be). As a game, this really is a bit of a failure. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. You can switch to full screen mode by pressing "Esc", showing that zero interest in conventions took place here. Keyboard controls don't work, you must use a console peasant childrens toy gamepad. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. I want to like it, but actually getting this to work is a nightmare. There isn't any rebinding and you're required to use a controller. As cute as this is, spare yourself the technical trauma and find something else.1 found this helpful
