More interesting reviews on Fenol Baron Approves Curator Page
“Cursed Roots” was created by two people, which of course cannot but affect its duration, but that huge amount of enthusiasm and desire to make a really interesting horror game atone for any malfunctions. After a call from an aunt whom he had not seen for many years (this place should already be suspicious), the protagonist goes to the house where he lived for many years to meet his past and (possibly) gloomy future. The mansion has long lost its cosiness, turning into a place with creaky doors, dimming lighting lamps and new ominous "residents" who are not at all happy about the arrival of the protagonist. The game is made in the old-school style, this applies to the visual design, and the plot content. Often the plot action is even intentionally made cheesy, to emphasize a certain old-fashioned nature of what is happening, that the game does not harm at all, but causes only a pleasant smile. The creators managed to make a really old-school picture without using pixel graphics, exclusively with the help of their skill and resourcefulness. And every…

Exquisite campy horror game. It reminded me a lot of Uninvited, one of my all time favorite adventures. Sublime atmosphere, and good inventory-based puzzles, some pretty challenging actually, like eg the trap puzzle - anyone who doesn't follow the ridiculous "click everything on everything" way of playing, and actually SOLVES the puzzles, will know what I mean. I thoroughly enjoyed playing, and I wish I could say "enjoyed every minute of it", but the game is marred by two godawful puzzles, that there's no logical explanation on what possessed the developers to include them. One is a frustrating maze, which made absolutely no sense why it was there - you will understand what I mean when you get there. I used a walkthrough to get it over with. The other, hands down the worst moment of the game, is a ghastly tile puzzle, that is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIMED... Wtf devs? Even if you wanted to build the suspense, you could at least include a "skip" button after the first failed try. Nevertheless, the game is a definite thumbs up from me, 100% recommended, especially at the asking price. A price, mind you, that must never be discounted, as it needs to always stay as is!

Largely bad and not really worth your time. Plot and scares are generic, puzzles are severely underhinted, the interface is cumbersome, and to make things worse, there is a BIG maze that exists for no other purpose to waste your time.

I enjoyed it. Have been a fan of point and click puzzle adventure games for a long time and I enjoyed this one. It was a bit more challenging because you had to come back for items and multiple search things to get everything. Was enjoyable. The wire puzzle was insane though, gave me a lot of urgency to try and get done.

A point & click horror game with an engaging story and awesomely spooky visuals. I'll agree that the overall spirit of this title definitely reminds me of (MacVenture's) Uninvited, but it's much more than that. There's a variety of mini-game-like puzzles, you can be chased from room to room, and it subverts your expectations on what you can and cannot do in a point & click. I absolutely love the art style, the story is great, and the sound design is on point. My only gripe would be that some of the puzzles seem overly difficult/convoluted, but this is really a non-issue in the end for me, because hey, that's what guides are for, right? lol Didn't notice any bugs or glitches. Runs smoothly. Recommending for horror geeks and fans of point & clicks.

Overall, I enjoyed playing the game. I did find some of the puzzles a bit difficult, but I'm not good at puzzles so do with that what you will.
