About Derision

Derision

You awake to the bars of your prison cell sliding open. You apprehensively peak outside and the dark, towering form of a Lich patrolling in the distance is the reason why.

Can you find a way to escape this nightmarish dungeon?
Use your discernment to navigate your way past Liches, disguise yourself, and find the key to your escape.

You will receive aid on your journey, will you aid others after you?
Help those imprisoned with you, and those that come after you. Or not...

Even if you make it out, will anyone believe you? Or will your stories be met with Derision?
These are questions you can provide the answers to with multiple endings based on your decisions.

Edit: "Derision" is an asset flip. The developer used the developer response feature to confess he deliberately failed both tests for what makes an asset flip... when other people's assets make up the majority of the game (true for Derision) and whether the developer failed to credit the people who actually created the game assets (true for Derision). And of course the developer, by not crediting the actual creators, tacitly claimed credit for their work FOR PROFIT. It doesn't matter if the license for those assets permits such use cases (there's no reason to believe so in this case), taking someone else's work, putting your own name on it to pretend you made it, and then trying to sell the result for profit is plagiarism and ethically bankrupt. If this was done in film or literature, not only would the developer never work in those industries again if they got caught doing it, but they would possibly be looking at finding a lawyer for the impending court cases. It's unclear why this is tolerated in the gaming industry and absolutely forbidden in others, but regardless, this is all about what's good for gamers, what's good for the industry, and what's good for genuine g…

I wouldn't call this a game. It's more like a 30-minute demo of a Walking Sim. I only paid 27 cents for it, and yet feel like I got ripped off. After you play it once and know the process (what to do & where to go), you can speedrun it in 5 minutes or less. Here's the game's objectives... 1. Walk out of your open cell 2. Read a note in another open cell to get a code. 3. Talk to a prisoner. 4. Sneak past the guards. 5. Unlock a chest by typing in the code you have. Get the amulet inside. 6. Read another note. 7. Pick up the key. 8. Unlock the door and walk out. Yep. You read that right. That's all there is to it. In addition, the one and only achievement is buggy, as I've completed the game 7 times now and it hasn't popped. The game has also froze up on me several times, and it always happens at the same place... when I was typing in the code to open the chest. The graphics are blocky and cartoonish. The lighting is very dark, making it hard to see some things. The concept of the game is a good idea, but since it's more like a demo you shouldn't waste your money or time.

This game left me puzzled. I swiftly explored everything the map had to offer and managed to escape the "prison" in record time without assisting the fellow prisoners. However, despite my quick escape, I didn't earn the Escape achievement. The few papers scattered around provided some random information, but they didn't help clarify the game's purpose. Overall, I'm genuinely confused about what this game is trying to achieve.
