Descent: Legends of the Dark

"Descent: Legends of the Dark" isn't a game. Real games require "gameplay", in the form of game loops and gamelike interaction, which is absent here. Rather than functioning as a game, "Descent: Legends of the Dark" is just a software application that you need to download to use to track your progress in a board game. Now, it should go without saying, but if you design a board game so badly that you can't play it without a mobile app, you have failed at the basic premise of designing a board game. You can't "play" this without the boardgame, it is not a game itself, just a tracking app. It's also irrelevant to discuss whether Descent is a decent board game or not, [i]because this is not that game.[/i] To clarify why this isn't a game in more precise terms, a "game loop" is the core cycle of interaction and feedback between a player and the game itself, and this garbage doesn't have one. An obvious example of a game loop would be in games like Forza, where you drive a car in a circle. Well made addition to the board game, board game difficulty and mechanics aside this is a really good companion and adds a lot of fun to the board experience

Really fun digital/physical RPG game to play solo or with friends. I love the feature of building the environments in the game physically and like the inventory and crafting systems. I would recommend the game as long as it's on sale.

Outstanding cooperative game. I don't have to be a DM or Overlord as the app does it all. Easy to understand and fun to play over and over with different character groups
