This is a good old game and I had a lot of fun playing it. It's an economy/management sim with some trappings of real-time strategy. The overall goal of the map is to dominate trade routes between Europe and India and build an unmatched trade empire. Overall this game is very well done and the sim is very balanced in regards to the economy and factors needed to build a trade empire; for example, you would think that simply dominating ports and building bigger fleets is the key to winning, and surprisingly it is not; building more expensive ships and having a lot of ports increases the maintenance costs of your trade empire which causes runaway costs that ruins your cashflow and ability to trade, so the game requires maximization of trade routes to win, not just domination. I played the game on the Disk version and loved it. However, the Steam Version is unplayable and is always crashing. Buying this game is a total waste of money and just throwing it away. Steam should fix the game and update it, otherwise it is completely unplayable in its current form.
