Having played the Andrew questline most of the day today, here is my impressions so far. The art and music is good. The actual native language dialogue spoken by the NPCs in the various ports is also a very nice touch. I feel like there are a lot of cool things to find, and interesting (if somewhat cliche) quests to complete. However, I am finding the combat incredibly wonky and tedious. The controls are akin to the old Uncharted Waters Online where you basically dogfight in the water and hope to aim your guns and fire while trying to control the ship that never seems to want to go the way you want it to go. Five minutes later, you have to find a shipyard, fix your ships NOT to maximum, recruit more crew, treat them to a round of drinks, and head right back out again. And why do I have to do so much combat? Because it's the only way to make money in the early game near as I can tell. I can make 20K from the easiest bounties, or make a few hundred from doing trades. And I HAVE to do bounties because when a ship sinks you have to go and buy a new one, and the Caravels cost 30K each to replace. So basically having to do bounties constantly to keep my funds afloat. And on the tr…1 found this helpful
Spiritual successor to Uncharted Waters, but much better. It has a bit of an Octopath Traveler vibe. The translation is rough in parts, but never a showstopper. Combat is a bit simplistic but functional. This definitely scratch that exploration/discovery itch I've had since Horizon's Gate!1 found this helpful
Sailing Era is the best looking and the closest game you are going to find that's a new Uncharted Waters.
A game that attempted to emulate Koei’s *Uncharted Waters Online* and *Uncharted Waters IV* but resulted in a downgraded experience in every aspect except the graphics. It is cluttered with features yet lacks a clear objective; the UI is unintuitive, and the controls are extremely poor. A quintessential Chinese copycat title.
good game, worth for the price
I like this game. I think this could be better than Uncharted Waters from Koei. Finished Andrew's storyline 2 years and came back last week to start Yun Mu's storyline. There are many side quests and discoveries to do other than the main storyline. Even barmaids have quests. It is a bit grindy as first, but auto sailing will help speed up the travel between cities and regions.
