About Echo Wars - Road Rage
Echo Wars is a VR arcade game that doesn’t waste your time: you jump into your buggy, grab your weapon, and everything starts blowing up. Drive with one hand, shoot with the other, and get ready for a series of spectacular levels featuring giant enemies, extreme environments, and mechanics that evolve in every stage. From collapsing futuristic cities to icy landscapes crawling with lethal creatures, through volcanic tunnels, space circuits, egg-infested laboratories, and cursed mines—there’s no pause here, only well-orchestrated chaos. And if you’re looking for a real challenge, Brutal Mode will make you sweat like it’s the arcade glory days.Echo Wars is compatible with both VR and flat screens (including Steam Deck), and it’s perfect for short bursts of adrenaline or full-blown arcade marathons.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/Q-8gzWtiiE4 Close call, but I decided to give this game a sideways recommendation. It' a pure arcade shooter where you drive with one hand and shoot with the other. The game did release in Early Access and the game could use some polish. I think the game's concept is fine. I would say the gameplay is unique. However, the execution is currently lacking. It just seems like there's something off. The game should feel adrenaline-fueled, but instead it feels slow-paced. There's some interesting ideas, but it's just not fine tuned to feel action-packed. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, performance was fine. You can play with joystick to drive, or put one hand on the wheel and steer in VR, or use a gaming wheel! There's a special comfort mode for those who may experience nausea normally when driving in VR. this was an immediate scoop for me, because this was literally a dream game scenario i cooked up in my head some time ago: one hand on a sim wheel, on hand with a vr controller wielding a pistol. that being said, even at five bux i can't recommend simply because of how poor the car feels to drive. jerking back and forth, no flow. very jarring compared to what i was expecting with a wheel. keeping the game to support the development of an idea. maybe i'll tweak some settings and try it again in the future but ehhhhhhh =/3 found this helpful
First of all, I played a long time in the DEMO version, which doesn’t count toward time played in the actual game. After playing the demo, I purchased this game right away. That is why it looks like I have hardly played this game at all when you look at my Playtime here at the time of this review. This is the best VR game I have played in quite some time....perhaps in the last two (2) years. I am using the standard HTC Vive and Track Controllers, and I can confirm this game works perfectly in VR with this setup. I could have used my Wheel to make this game play even better, but my Wheel is a bit bulky and clunky to get it all setup in my play space, and then just to put it back later. I love the following regarding this game in VR: 1. It's very forgiving. I am not an expert gamer, nor do I live in my mother's basement, playing video games all day and night (like many Steam Gamers here do). Hence, this game is a breath of fresh air for those of us who appreciate a thrilling, action-packed game that doesn't require hours of training before you can enjoy playing it. It's easy to just pick up and play right away, and you can leave and come back at your leisure anytime and jus…2 found this helpful
