Echoes of Aetheria has a humble, perhaps even classic, beginning. A wedding interrupted, a bride kidnapped; our heroes give chase. Though their motives are different, they soon find themselves thrown together as their simple quest to recover the bride spirals into an epic saga of war, love, and betrayal.
Treason, defection, rebellion, and even the creation of a new nation are all parts in which you’ll have a role to play. As you progress further, the scope of the story will grow with your heroes. By the end, you’ll have to weigh your decisions and their consequences against the fate of entire nations.

- Get Busy Crafting – THOUSANDS of items can be crafted, salvaged, or augmented. A fully integrated crafting system lets you create, purchase, or sell the materials you need. Those who fully explore the system will be rewarded in combat!
- Random Encounters? Not Here! – Enemies all have their own map AI. Will you brute force through encounters or stealthily sneak by to save resources? You can sneak up behind an enemy to gain the advantage of surprise. But be wary, because they can also sneak up on you!
- A New Battle System – Tired of JRPGs that still rely on outdated RPG mechanics? Echoes of Aetheria features a new 15 tile combat system using both sides of the battlefield. Character position and formations are just as important as the skills and spells you’ll use.

Echoes of Aetheria, developed and published by Dancing Dragon Games, is a deliberate throwback to the era of classic turn-based Japanese RPGs, built with a clear affection for the structure and sensibilities of 16-bit adventures. It embraces a familiar formula—party-based combat, world-spanning conflict, and a steadily unfolding narrative—but attempts to refine that foundation with modern pacing and a stronger emphasis on character interaction. The result is a game that feels immediately recognizable to genre veterans, yet polished enough to remain accessible to newer players. The story opens with a relatively personal incident that quickly spirals into a broader tale of political tension, war, and shifting alliances between nations. While the overarching narrative leans on familiar tropes, it gains momentum through its cast of characters, each bringing distinct personalities and motivations into the journey. Had no problems. Killed everything with no problems. Like everyone else got to the final battle and it is just a joke. The fight isn't difficult but fun its just you die horribly and there is nothing you can do about it. The game had so much potential but that fight is so frustrating. I didn't even bother to finish it and I am likely not going to buy anything from the creator.
A good western classic RPG, made with RPGmaker by a good indie developer in which you have to navigate worlds, fight monsters (can be avoided) and improve the gear and abilities of your protagonists. All the heroes have their own unique abilties and their strenghts and weaknesses. Single playthrough consists of about 20-25 hours. Can be completed twice before it becomes stale. Good entertainment value for around 10-12 EUR. I hope a successor can be made, but probably unlikely to happen in 3-5 years time. Pro's * Despite RGPMaker engine, its a very good game, unlike some slop this engine is notorious known for. * It has a grid system, which places rules on which enemies and allies can be targeted. Also, there a lots of abilties which can manipulate the place and of course, there a plenty of abilities which have varied shapea of target grids. * Game has a decent story, with some setbacks for the protagonists as well. * Creator does prevent the combat gameplay from becoming to repetive by having fast leveling when moving to a different stage. * Good challenging arena, for both the whole group and individual party members. * Runs on both Linux and Windows pc's, nearly flawless. Throughout my first ten hours with Echoes of Aetheria, I was sure that I'd end up reviewing it by giving it a recommendation. For the most part, it was a worthy and fun new instalment in the Dancing Dragon's series that I've more than enjoyed so far. Unfortunately, this changed later on. Let me start off by saying that I did enjoy some thing about this game right up until the very end. I think that the graphics and the sprites still contain that magical charm that their previous games, Deadly Sin, Deadly Sin 2 and Skyborn had. The characters are also quite likeable, even if the story surrounding them is nothing to write home about and they are basically archetypes, they did bring out a few chuckles and moments of enjoyment. It is unfortunate, though, that most of them, due to a weaker story, reach an expected and predictable conclusion by the time that the credits roll. The music is good, but repetitive after 30+ hours and the combat, in general, is actually fantastic. This, however, does bring me to the negatives. While the grid combat system is really fun and requires well-thought out tactics and planning, it gets old quite fast. Sure, the enemy encounters can be avoided comple…
Pretty cool game! I appreciate finding the "maps" the creator developed because they are needed. I've been having a lot of fun with the characters. It is definitely worth downloading the "manual" for the game! VERY helpful!!
